Hi, If anyone has practical SEO experience with Baidu.com (currently main Chinese search engine) -- please share it here. Thanks, CKelvin
Doesnt Baidu have any instructions on what should be done ? just like google does ? I don't think it would be much difference than google. I do not have any experience on Baidu, i am speaking from the algorithm point of view.
Hi ckelvin, I am from China, I can get some baidu.com seo information for you , if you need. You can give me messenge. kevin
Baidu is essentially like Alta Vista or Ask Jeeves used to be like around 1998 or 1999. For example they love meta tags and internal links. Also get a .cn domain name. (I can't post a link on the forum at the moment, but PM me and I'd be glad to send it along).
you can do seo in two ways white hat ( which is exepted, but time consuming) or Black hat ( which is not excepted by major engines, but is quick) it depends what you exactly want to do these might give you some info http://cashound.blogspot.com/2007/07/seo-do-it-right-way.html http://cashound.blogspot.com/2007/07/blogging-for-seo-success.html http://cashound.blogspot.com/2007/07/keywords-in-seo-key-to-success.html
Agreed that .cn is best, but other extensions are also acceptable. For example, searching Baidu for either å©å (child) or å©å们 (children) brings up dot com net org tv etc. and searching for è¯åˆ¸æŠ¥åˆŠ brings up .com and .cn. Unfortunately, my å©å们.com and è¯åˆ¸æŠ¥åˆŠ.com are parked and do not yet rank. Next project after Japanese....
I hear black hat seo is rife on Baidu.com. It's a complex world of link exchanges etc to get top rankings. Also if you site is not translated in Chinese or of interest to the Chinese i feel it's a bit of a waste of time to seo specifically for Chinese search engines.\ Stick to optimizing for google, google still has around a 20% share in the Chinese market, which is still pretty big. (Yahoo about 7%)
