I want to increse the SERPs for my arcade site but i dont really know what to do. Should i submit to directories? Do link exchange? Submit to social bookmarking sites? What would u recommend?
directory and bookmarking submission will help your site rank well, but the most important you should know is your target keyword. Think of the keyword that brings traffic! For example "addicting games" , this keyword has a good overture stats.
Wite a few paragraphs about each game, alot of arcade sites don't do this and consist of just flash and a game title.. Doing this will create alot more long tail keywords and search engine referals instead of relying on people just coming in from links. Doing this alone will give you an advantage that 90% of arcade sites don't have. Also make sure your script has unique Titles & Descriptions for each game page, also adding an embed code so people can add your games to their MySpace, Friendster, Blog etc works well.
Thanks for your suggestions. I am adding quality games manually and writing my own descriptions instead of using a gamepack with 2000 games. Do link exchanges with other arcade sites improve ranking or are they only good for PR? btw, my site is area51arcade.com
As with any sort of site, exchanging links with other releveant sites is a must. Doing this will help your rankings and should it be with higher PR sites then your PR too.
Here's another tip, it looks like you want to use the http version for your URL going by your sig link and your site so add this to your .htaccess file: Your www version has a PR1 and you have canonical URL's, this code will rewrite all your URL's to the http version to chanel PR to the one URL and avoid duplicate content issues.
Sure will, and it's a 301 permanent redirect meaning all links applied to www will instead pass their weight on to http so it doesn't "split" your backlinks.
