I already know a lot about SEO and online marketing in general, but I applied much of my work to affiliate sites and blogs in so far. What I would like to know if people have had any experiences on SEO for a store website. I am debating whether to make the main page the store, or to have the index be a blog loaded with new content, keywords, articles, while the actual online store would be at http://www.store.somesite.com which would be a link all over the index page blog. Which do you guys would think be better for search engines? Please remember that this is a business site that mainly wants buyers, so I am not too keen on setting up a blog that I have to update almost everyday if it wont convert buyers. So which is better for SE's? Index as a blog or index as the shopping cart site.
I can't connect to your site... hmm, If i were to market your site, I'll make my home page half store-like(update of products) and half filled with new articles( even short ones) thus making new content every time there are updates...
I don't think using a blog for the sake of it is a good idea. Blogs can do well if they have good content and promoted well through sites like digg and stumbleupon, only then will they get plenty quality backlinks. The other reason blogs do well is because they can pick up a lot of traffic from uncompetitive longtail keyword searches. Your site is a store, it's primary focus is never going to be able to produce entertaining or useful content that is of the caliber required to do well on social bookmarking sites. So do your users a favour and keep it as a store. If you'd like Google to crawl your site more often you could add a news module and update semi regularly, but the advantages of being crawled often are really minimal, it won't get your site ranked any higher and the news module is likely to serve up some very boring company information which will just be a distraction to your shoppers.
i am already doing seo of 2 store website, so my exp. suggest you need to optimize each product page by particular brand product name and related stuff which people looking for.
