SEO for a Single page website

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by rudof, Oct 8, 2012.

    Hi there

I am creating a website and the complete website will be single webpage.

The section and link will be like this

    #home /#products /#services

I think Google doesn't crawl the link containing # tag so there is no chance of duplicate's.

Is there any tips (ON-PAGE & OFF-PAGE) for optimizing such kind of site. The complete site will be in Script

Use your primary and secondary target keywords in the following positions on your page:
    • Page title tag
    • Description tag
    • Headlines, sub-headlines and body text
    • Internal and external links
    • Image names and alt tags

Single page website is no more a good choice to rank in google after penguin update. You should regular update your pages with unique keyword rich content to rank better, though off-page seo work can improve your site rank a little bit. But I suggest you to make a blog related with your website & post regular update leaving your site url there.

Single page website is not as much good as the other sites which have the multiple pages. Because it won't help the people to find the sufficient data.

When you say "leaving your site url there." What exactly do you mean?

I have a wordpress site and I have my blog that I post to frequently with SEO friendly content that pertains to my products and services. But I do not put my website url within the article that I write. Should I be doing this and if so is there an ideal placement for the url to go within the article?

I'd struggle to make at least 10-20 pages... otherwise you won't rank well.

If it's a small, presentation-type, business-card-type site, then you might consider:

-slideshows with JQuery - it's trendy nowadays
    -some YouTube marketing with video
    -include SM bookmarking banners
-buy 2-3 cheap, but good PR directory listings (e.g. Ezilon, 01WebDirectory etc. will cost you about 69 $ and 49 $ per listing, respectively...)
-attract Facebook fans - create a fan page
-consider adding a blog to it... and feed it at least 2-3x a month

^True because you are only targeting and promoting one page (if you are into seo) also your content. plus the design will be filled with contents and unpleasant to visit.

single pages are eady to get crawled but multiple pages have the rate of listing higher than yours so try to add on a few pages and try out competent, easy keywords which are grammatically correct keywords
    all the best

I don't think its a good choice. Cause Google don't like them. Google always love contents. and You can't ensure all the good contents in one page .So Avoid them.
    thanks

My advice is not to be scared of document size. Have as much data in there as needed to inform and provide regular call to action throughout. Good semantic structure will help Google understand what you're really about. Don't stuff your TITLE with many things - I am guessing you're about a single product or service.

Definitely try making more pages with unique content on them (I'd say 600-1000 words at least). You will rank better this way.

I just watched a Matt Cutts Hangout, in which he says that they normally look for contact information, an about page and other signals in a site to determine whether it's real deal or not.

That said, I'd definitely add these pages to your site.

Anyhow, any particular reason you want to stick to a one-page site?

Using a single page is going to be tricky to rank for several keywords - experience speaking. I have worked with several clients trying to do this and none were successful until they went multi-page
