Now that Google can index flash sites, supposedly, does anybody have any insights as far as the best way to perform SEO on flash websites? Brad
I'm still not sold on the idea of google indexing flash sites. Keep the flash to a minimum. It can look ok if it is balanced, otherwise, it gets tacky
Actually. If you search game on google. addictinggames is #1. Search their page, their blurb isint on their page. They used meta tags. Such as in here <meta name="description" content="Put the stuff here you want google to read. PHP Mysql info here."/><meta name="keywords" content="Php, mysql and more (keywords go here)"/>
use dynamic content on flash files not static. Dynamic text can be read by google not static. But i will not recommend flash website. You can use little bit of flash but if you are going to make it in flash only. it will not be good.
Yes you can optimize flash website if it is not completely in Flash. I mean to say if you have some content pages in the site than it not difficult to optimize such site. For more information you can read one my posts here...
Flash sites are actually beginning to get recognized more by search engines, I was reading up on it the other day. It was said that google and yahoo are implementing and altering their spiders to be able to see flash. Something along those lines. With flash sites, try to use dynamic content as mentioned above and place a lot of thought into your meta description. Finally just get backlinks to your site.
The way to look at it is that basically Google and yahoo still don't index Flash sites very well, so all the SEO basics still stand. However, Adobe, Google and Yahoo are working hard at it, so we should see some progress for Flash indexing quite quickly. I'd say that within a year, we should see some major improvements, and hopefully, Flash will become SEO friendly sometime soon.
