this is all bullshit, article or drectory submissions or social bookmarking. You must know where to submit and where not and also when to start with linkbuilding or you'll be easy penalized. 1. Never do linkbuilding in first 6 months, maybe 2-3 in-links, but not more, 2. be carefull with article submissions, most of directories are already penalized and getting links from penalized sites brings nothing, 3. if you do submissions, submit manually and always change your text and anchors, 4. use always keyword combination for your anchors, 5. generate more links to your subpages as to main site, 30% to main site 70% to subpages, 6. always write unique text and do updates at least each 2-3 days with 200-300 words, 7. work natural!
you should start with off page optimization actually.. the keywords which belong to the page that u wish for it to come in first should be submitted in social bookmarking sites and lot of directory submissions. directory submissions include free,premium,paid listings depending on the rate of acceptance. if u choose free it wud take 3months for the keywords to be accepted and then listed. so, a constant effort of sending for a couple of months wud definitely bring your page up. but u must be careful in submitting the right titles and keywords for the right directories. read through the submission guidelines once hope this helps. all the best
