That is a nice thought... but very inaccurate You see there are very few qualified to do "seo"... so as it happens the ones who are good.... usually work for themselves. I have a few clients..much less than a year ago... and I do more work now for my own ventures. Hiring others who can do SEO is almost impossible. So if I ranked on the front page of Google for any SEO term..I would not be able to answer the inquiries.. much less get the work done. Thanks for the thought however.
Sem-Advance is right. And its Irrelevant too. Joe-shmo who owns a local bowling alley, and has a website, does not know the first thing about SEO. They never even heard of it. So they are not going to find you using a search like 'mycity' search engine optimization. Most are not even going to bother to try to look for you. They can't search for what does not exist in their mind. It's primarily referrals that bring in SEO clients. I would not waste my time constantly updating, optimizing, link building my SEO site. That's time i could be using to work on a paying clients site, or finding new clients. I use a search engine to find new clients. They dont use it to find me.
I used to rank for a bunch of seo related terms, you have to good at selling people stuff over the phone to really capitalize on them
By far and away the best way to ensure you hire a competent SEO is to request a look at their clients rankings. Good one and two word top 3 rankings will show a good SEO, obscure words ranking and being outside the top 5 will probably mean you're better off spending your cash elsewhere.
the 99% of the so called SEO experts don't know IR How can them call themselves experts if they don't know how a SE works? LoL
Just to clarify, I was stating that only those who work for Google can be experts in that algorithm. I was not implying it is possible to program the spider, etc. That's silly. You also have to understand there are many types of SEO. It is a field with several aspects. For example, someone may be very good at SEO designed content. Another might be a pro at figuring links and site construction. That is why there are so many SEO firms with multiple "gurus" working for them.
OK..I am wondering weather there is any professional certification on SEO.. like 3-6 month diploma .. in the IT/multimedia schools...
The solution to this issue is to establish a SE Positioning Index, or SEPI, measuring ranking for several keywords from a company, an SEO expert or a web promotion campaign. I have proposed such an index in an article and in forum postings. SEPI = Ranking * Keyword Difficulty 2/ (TotalGooglePages 2) Several sports have an universal ranking system. Chess has ELO, tennis the ATP Ranking and golf a handicap measure. Why not SEO? Search for "positioning index" in G. for more details.
The issue with SEO certification is the fact that you would have to be constantly recertified in new techniques. SEOtoolset has a certification program. Most training programs for SEO are based on attending a seminar, but there are now online courses. A lot of SEO planners are skeptical, as SEO is more a type of guru than anything else. I think it's only a matter of time before real courses in SEO basics are offered. I will keep an eye on things and let you know if I find a real program for it.
Why is it bad to read articles and the latest information on websites? Doctors read journals with the latest studies and techniques in their field. The big difference betwee doctors and SEO "experts" is that once you learn to take a liver out it never changes. SEO can change constantly so websites, blogs and online articles are more important than ever.
I wouldn't call myself an expert but I am certainly good at it. You can see my thread here : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=157022 But as topicalone states that your not an expert unless you apply your knowledge I agree. Upon those tips I gave in my thread, I can also tell you honestly that I have applied each and everyone on of those 17 tips and more to a certain extent. So I did not just research and put those in, I worked them out and had sucess with them.
The scientific "experts" on global climate were quoted in the now-famous 1975 cover story of a national magazine — "New Ice Age Coming" The political "experts" in our federal and state governments have in some cases been the causes of various messes we've been in. Environmental "experts" were among the leading speakers and authors in the late 20th century proclaiming the certainty of global famine by the year 2000. Pro football "experts" installed the Chicago Bears as big favorites to blow out the Miami Dolphins today. It was a blowout, all right, but the winner was Miami! I wouldn't give you a plug nickel for the opinions of most "experts". But, that being said, I think that the Digital Point forum is filled with a large number of very knowledgeable posters. None of them has all the answers. But if you diligently read this forum, and other similar resources, you can formulate a successful strategy for your website, without caring one bit about the "expert" status of all the individuals who provide their opinions in posts.
Lol To Jim : Yeah I know there are a lot of smart peeps here at DP, and that others have techniques that work for their sites, and others that work of someone elses site.
IMO the "expert" term has been devalued by all the talking heads you see on TV who claim to be able to predict anything from the weather to next year's exchange rates. I prefer the term "specialist".
You know,?., Casino.com is secretly operated by google., Thatz why it comes first for the term "Casino"
