    Please take a look at site http://www.masalacity.com/index.html
    There are some other similar sites this person has created. The amazing part is that they show up on top of serach results in yahoo for several terms such as
    masala clips
    masala video
    shakeela
    masala movies
    indian masala movies
    and so forth.
    The question is how exactly he did it and what can be done to replicate the success quickly, if that is possible?
    Can the SEO experts please share some insight.

    the key to such success is to always be a first to create a unqiue idea, to master a unique topic and focus on that unique self-developed expertise.
    hence the key to success is to NEVER copy OTHERS, be inspired of others success as a motivation for your own work in your own unique field of expertise to be DONE by you and hence to create your OWN success - no matter the time, no matter the efforts or investments needed until success is achieved.

    success is a matter of endless efforts and divine inspiration - never a matter of copying others. efforts until job done!

    those who copy others prove to lack divine inspiration - such bliss is open to unique creators - never to idea thieves or copiers.

    in addition
    the site a.m. and the keywords mentioned have no real global competition - all the results I saw in G had less than a million competing results. hence the competing market is tiny.
    true popular keywords usually have anywhere from a few million to dozens or even hundreds of millions competing pages.

    if you write a few thousand pages about masala girls, masala fashion, masala dance, masala xyz
    then one day you too end up in the top 10 masala copiers - however people/surfers always will see/feel and know the difference from idea copiers to idea creators.

    thanks for the comments
    However I think there is more than simple unique content that is involved here. I am pretty sure it has more to do with keyword placement and knowing what gets indexed fast.

    I think you are looking a little too much into this.....these keywords have no competition....you would only need a few strong links to do well

    If you are wanting to focus on Minimal competition Keyword phrases, at least do it in a sub-page army fashion rather than your main root. Build your main Root index for a high competitive Phrase & your sub-pages for longtail phrases related to the root.

    You will eventually find that the combination of Quality content driven pages attract Organic IBL's & aid in competitive ranking in Niche markets (Not to mention the longtail pages provide additional SERP's weight to the main page they point back to).

    Of course, this is just a basic overview & there are allot of other Elements in SEO / SEM that you should adhere to. I'm just not in the mood to write a book about it on one thread. There are countless articles already available that you can soak some knowledge out of on the net, Google is your friend when it comes to finding what you need - (Hense having something that is both Unique & Quality driven that others search for when they need what you have) -

    Good luck to you!

    There's a very simple explanation. The keywords you listed range from very easy to easy. All you would need to get in top 10 for those keywords is:
    - The main keyword in the title tag (which is "masala");
    - The other ones spread throughout the UNIQUE page;
    - A few backlinks which have "masala" in the anchor text in various forms. And since the domain has a reported 808 backlinks on Yahoo, you can do the math. I haven't gone as far as checking how many of the site's backlinks hava "masala" in them, but I'm guessing there are a few.
    Good day!

    There are plenty of masala sites out there
    masalaplex.com
    masalaclips.com
    mallumasalapictures.com and so forth
    there must be something more that only one site shows up on top for so many keywords such as mallu, masala, desi while others dont even though they have more content
