Hello SEO experts. I did some research and found a keyword with appr. 90,600 (Broad) and 4,500 (Exact) global monthly searches and low competition. Registered a domain name with exact keyword and installed wordpress, added a few articles, a page with an article on keyword is set as my homepage. About the competition: Using Market Samurai I got these results: 1. ehow.com is at number 1 with PR5 (27 Backlinks to the page and 0 edu or gov backlinks) Keyword is in URL 2. Youtube video with keyword is at number 2 with appr. 1,50,000 views, PR4. (with 0 Backlinks to the page) 3. Youtube video with keyword is at number 2 with appr. 10,000 views, PR 4 (with 20 backlinks) 4. Then there is a website with PR3 and around 150 backlinks, keyword is in URL, not in domain. All the other sites are with PR4, PR3, PR2 and PR1 with very few backlinks or no backlinks at all. 2 of them are forums with question related to my keyword asked and the thread is there got ranked in Google. Keeping in mind I have EXACT keyword domain, how much time and effort is required to get top rankings? And also how much traffic per month can I expect from that specific keyword? About how much time would you expect to get to top rankings - it takes time. About a few months - but it depends on how you build links for your portal, slow or fast. Just continue doing your effort in quality and Google will reward you back , with your competitors being monitored by you as well. Next, about the traffic. It will also depend on what kind of keyword are you targeting. For example you are targeting a keyword with 1 million searches a month. In that 1 million searches, as soon as you see your website rank on SERPs, you will slowly gain traffic from that 1 million searches + other related searches as well. Though you won't get the full 1 million at all, but around 30%-40% of that could be feasible.

From reading your post it sounds like you have targeted a solid keyword. How many articles have you written? make sure your articles are 500 or more words per post (Google seems to like that more.) Remember that on site SEO is an important factor as well as backlinking. Once you are ready to start your backlinking campaign, make sure your links are diverse and don't over do it, in order to avoid the sandbox. You may also want to think about targeting closely related keywords (or secondary keywords) in other posts on your site. This will help bring in even more traffic.
I've started building links for my site and It is appearing at number 52 in Google, I check the ranking with Market Samurai. I m building the links gradually, only from good PR sites, related to the keyword and around 10 to 15 links everyday. My question is still unanswered, how can I outrank those Youtube videos and eHow articles as they have PR4, do I need to build a lot of links to outrank them? I think all the other sites are easy to outrank. Cheers.
Easiest way to beat videos is with optimized videos of your own If you're not into making videos, create more material of your choosing for the keywords and keep posting baacklinks where you think relevant so the SE notices your page more than the video
When I bought the domain, I thought it would be easy to outrank those competitors, because I have Exact match domain, but It seems like it will take time and efforts. I am new to SEO and this is my very first SEO campaign.
Hi, as you are to compete with page with page rank of 4 make sure you too have to rose to that level to push back those results. Apart from that but as you said you have got domain with those keyword and if you have got domain with .com version and I am sure you don't have to work hard. With few backlinks and time period you will be ahead of your competitor. Make sure to add your targeted keyword in title, description and in content and watch the magic.
Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking, I should get the advantage of exact match domain and it is obviously .com I have included the keyword in Title, Description, in Meta Tags and in my articles 5-7 times including keyword in H3 tags too. I inserted an image with my keyword as an alternate text. I did all the onpage SEO stuff which i studied on DP and other forums and books. Now I am concentrating on building backlinks gradually.
