    Hey Guys and Gals,

My Video Gaming Site is over 5 years and gets lots of traffic, it is a huge site and it used to maintain a strong PR4 when I had the forum on the homepage.

The riddle.....every since I moved the forum to a sub-domain, and added a game portal as the front page I have lost my PR...it is now Pr0 and says I have no backlinks in Google or MSN where as before I had thousands of backlinks.

This is my Video Game Forum

What has happened. How can I regain my PR.

Who can figure out the PR mystery and tell me via here or pm how I would go about fixing this problem.

    Thanks

When you moved your forum, did you spend less time on search engine optimization?

To keep rankings and PageRank, new backlinks and updates are priority.

I had the forum moved by a vbulletin person here on DP so I assumed they kept the SEO in tact. I am wondering how can I re-claim all of my old backlinks etc.?

    Thanks

If you changed the URLs then you've lost all your links. You need to redirect the old URLs to the new.

Also a sub domain is classed as a new domain, you would have been better going www.domain.com/forum!

Hi I am just thrilled to be getting the long sought after answers on this problem. I guess, the next time I move a forum I need it moved by a forum and an SEO expert so as not to loose the integrity of my site. The site still gets lots of traffic but I just don't have the time to manage the traffic and create the needed income. Maybe it would be better if I can get someone to do the redirects for me and then see what would be the best next step for the gaming community.

Thanks Martyn.b, you are right, and I changed the forum from www.xsgaming.com to www.xsgaming.com/forums, my thinking had been that it would hold the site integrity but clearly there was more to my problem.

Also, thanks Mti I will go to the link now to see what I can learn to help boost my site.
Thanks to all of you for your insight.

I would love to have someone with loads of experience look at my site and give me a complete run down on what I can do to improve my site and if the price is not to high perhaps you can implement the needed SEO techniques.

If you are interested in doing this please pm me or respond here.

    Thanks again

move your forum from the subdomain back to the main domain use a sub folder not a sub domain subdomains are counted as a seperate domain thats where you messed up.

oh re reading i see you did that now give it time.. but seriously im sure thats what hurt you.

    Hi There,

Kewlchat, I got a little confused. should I leave the fourm at www.mydomain.com/forums or should i move it back to www.mydomain.com?

I just want to see things turn around. It has been 6 months since I moved the forum and still no new PR ranking and no backlinks are mentioned from google or Msn.

    Thanks a ton

You are putting a new content on and old page. Search engine could be thinking is a new site unless you use redirect 301. Learn about redirect 301 but anyhow it takes time to get back the PR because of the crawling process. All the best then and good luck.

    Don't assume that ;)
You still have the "powered by vbulletin" in all your title tags.

If you moved the path, you'll need to build links up to the sub folder.
