I suggest you don't opt for the two. They are useless.

Totally serious, just do a wikipedia search for "pagerank" the history section:

"PageRank was developed at Stanford University by Larry Page (hence the name Page-Rank)"

    hi,

i would have thought linking to the Pr6 site would be more valuable, but i would recommend testing as we used & didnt really see a difference since it wasnt related to the niche we were in at the time.

All things being equal the second choice is best.

    Here's why:

Authority has been assigned to the second page.

The first page has no authority in the eyes of Google or it would have a higher PR.

Now having said that. It's just one link, and not knowing all the variables it doesn't matter.

And a lot of larger sites run links pages that are not even linked back to that site, are buried in script, or have nofollow commands.

So you need to learn what to look for, but not worry about a single link.

    This depends on numerous factors:

    1. Do both pages have the same number of outbound links?
    2. Do both pages have the same number and quality of inbound links?
    3. Is the page linked to from the homepage of the same site?
    4. Is the page linked sitewide from the other pages on the site?

In one instance, you can have a PR6 homepage on a website, but if the links page is an orphan page not linked to from anywhere on that site it will be useless unless it has links from elsewhere....in this case it might be better to have a link from the PR2 page as chances are it may likely have more/higher quality inbound links. Always take a few moments to research a link partner's website before you jump into a link exchange based purely on pagerank! :)

According to me second option "A home page that has a PR2 but the page your link is on is a PR2. Not the home page." will be better.

Homepage is not important, Linking should be made on High PR, - All that's clear.
But most important things are your page in which this link is coming, I found in my practical experience you can gain good PR only if your Website has Large no. of page (no matter PR-0), but every page should be well optimized.
Although many expert say that google follow a volume algorithm, i.e. Nos. of pages PR value for giving a Good home page PR that's true.

The pr0 from the pr6 page would be better because more then likely that pr0 page will go to pr4 or pr5 in the next update and google treats it as such before any updates to pr.

I would take the PR6 link - pr6 means a very good link connection to geht such a high pr. on most times a pr6 page is much older and has more linkpower.

LOL ...theres a thousand different answers here confusing the hec kout of him/her. :)

What you would really want to do is to check the PR 0 page that's on the PR 6 site. See if the Page 0 is linked well, and if it is not "nofollow" from the main site pages. Check the PR 6 sites other internal pages to see how they rank. Sometimes when pages are new they may rank very low. Over time that PR 0 could climb to PR5..which would obviously be a lot better than a PR 2 site. But, check to see how long that PR 0 page has been up on that site. If its very old, then the reality is that Google just doesn't seem to like it for whatever reason and I would just forget about it. If that page is new and if other similar pages within that PR 6 site are decent PR score..the nI would take a chance on the PR 0 page, and I'd pay less seeing that it was a PR 0 - in fact if I had a hunch it was going to get ranked high ,I would make a contract for 2 to 5 years to rent it without the price changing. But if theres no hope for that page, if its old and has been a PR 0 for a couple years regardless of being linked to the rest of the site ..then I would accept that its going to stay a PR 0 for probably its internet lifespan.

That is what must be checked out and verified ..before settling for a PR 2 site page. I wouldn't just assume or guess on something like that.

Well I'd rather choose PR2 on both page, because PR0 is nothing.

The higher PR may help you get indexed faster, if your new site is not already indexed.

I believe my choice would be the second option.
If all the condition are the same, it will work better.

I think, PR and Home page is not important factor.
Most important thing is link Quality. which includes cachesing , OB's etc....

Actually depends on what kind of traffic you are looking for ; organics search engine traffic or traffics from the site that give you the 1 way link.

If you are looking for traffic from Google, then a PR2 page is better than a PR0. If you only want to get indexed fast, then go for the PR 0 page with a PR6 main.

But if you are looking for traffics from the page that link to you, then you have to determine which pages has more visitors. Normally a PR 6 site will have more visitors compared to PR 2, but its really depends on which page did he give you a link back.
