Actually, I'm quite enjoying this. Debates are often the best way for a reader to learn there are more facets to something than just a = b.

    http://www.careforinfant.com

I don't anything wrong with the site, but google never indexed even a single page of it.

if you can help me how get my site indexed that would be nice.

I had some Bidding directories - they never too off and when I add any content (now not bidding directories) Google gives a 30 or 60 penalty.

How to get out of the penalty

In other words, go away... You're ruining my scam here to make people think I'm some kind of SEO god.

Ummm I beg to differ. The mere fact that some pages on your site are in one language, some another, some yet another does NOT mean that your site as a whole does not benefit from inbound links to ALL of those pages. They do...

Things like domain trust, domain authority, PageRank, etc are ALL kewyord (and therefore language) agnostic. Domain authority for instance is based on inbound links. If you have 10,000 inbound links and almost all of those are to your home page, your site will be seen as MUCH less of an authority than a similar site wlith 10,000 inbound links with those links pointing to LOTS of inner pages. Why?

Google sees the average site as being about some particular niche. Each page on your site "should" be about some different topic within that niche (and be targeting different keyword phrases). I mean why else have multiple pages if they all are talking about the exact same crap? So having LOTS of links to LOTS of pages makes you an authority, not just having LOTS of links. When you have lots of links to lots of pages, it means to Google that lots of webmasters see your site as knowing about a lot of areas within your niche which is pretty much the layman's definition of what an authority on a subject is. A site with links almost exclusively to their home page does not reflect that they know much about various topics within their niche.

Yes there are times when using a sub-domain or better yet, a country-code TLD makes sense from a user perspective when you are targeting many countries. But ONLY if those sites each have their own VERY unique content specific to that country (not just the same content translated) and each country's sub-domain/ccTLD domain has a large amount of content.

But in general, it's better to just use sub-directories/sub-folders, ESPECIALLY if you want to focus the SEO benefits of all that content and more importantly its inbound links on one domain so ALL the pages benefit.

Might want to check out what Adam Lasnik from Google says in this video where he responds to a question about 5:20 into the video. He talks about when it's appropriate to treat them as a separate site... specifically a ccTLD... and never mentions any SEO benefits of doing so (because there are none, it's more based on the benefits to users). But about 6:15 into the video he discusses how having them in sub-folders DOES contribute to the overall trust, PageRank, etc. of the site... how it does benefit the main domain and site as a whole having them in sub-folders.

And I have discussed this very thing with Matt Cutts at Pubcon the last few years at "Meet the Google Engineers", in the hallways, etc. and listened to him and others respected SEOs there discuss this topic... and the answer is always the same. Making them sub-folder/sub-directories and Geo Targeting each directory to the appropriate country DOES contribute to the overall PageRank, authority, trust, etc. of the site and does allow all of those pages to take advantage of the main domain's trust, authority, PageRank, etc. regardless of what language/country they are targeting. And using sub-domains and ccTLDs, while appropriate in some situations, does not provide any tangible SEO benefits to the sites, only to its users.

Oh yea... a blog post from some no named person on a no named blog really "lays things to rest" for me... Thanks!

I agree with pretty much everything the guy said in the post... In fact, we were pretty much saying the same thing. I never said ALWAYS use sub-folders, only that in MOST cases sub-folders (not sub-domains) is the way to go.

99.9% of sites out there targeting 5, 10, 20 countries are NOT going to write totally unique content for each country. They typically translate what they wrote in their native language, add a few references or saying here and there that are specific to that country, and call it a day. It's hard enough developing and maintaining unique content for 1 site in 1 language much less coming up with totally different content unique to news, events, etc. happening in each of the countries being targeted.

If I felt each country being targeted had enough unique content and had the ability to develop enough of its own trust, authority, PageRank, etc. to stand on its own, I would STILL not use sub-domains.

I would instead use country-coded Top Level Domains (example.de, example.fr, example.co.uk, etc.) instead. But as I said this (just like using sub-domains)makes it so these sites are starting from scratch building their own authority, trust, etc. and cannot benefit from each other's inbound links like they could if they were all under one domain.

But different strokes for different folks... We can just agree to disagree.

    PS:

    1) It seems that anytime anyone in this thread questions your "authority" on a topic, you get defensive and start lashing out... their "ruining" your thread... their "boring"... etc. all because they don't subscribe to YOUR beliefs.

    2) Long, incohesive threads like this where you are volunteering your "services" does nothing for the users of this forum. The thread will end up being about 20 different topics. It's just your way of keeping a tread with your name in it going in hopes of somehow boosting your ego. If you want to "help" people as you say, you can better serve this community by simply responding to OTHER peoples threads that THEY have created addressing THEIR very specific concerns.

    Hello,

Taking a quick look at careforinfant.com. You seem to have set your sitemap correctly. You have even used the Robots META tag which you dont actually need really. Follow these steps exactly.

1.Use the Google Webmaster tools to generate a robot.txt again. I am sure you can just use disallow/sitemap.xml.gz if you dont want that indexed. Unless you are listing directive sitemap maps in your robot.txt. There again this also depends on what you have submitted in webmaster tools. Most likely your standard sitemap.xml from your root directory. You dont need to use xml.gz on smaller sites.(FYI)

    2. Add 1 piece of content everyday for two weeks.

    3. Open and allow comments. Moderate often.

    4. Update your wordpress version.

    5. Submit to http://www.dmoz.org/add.html

    6. Above all build links using SMO. Socialbookmarks etc

    7. Add your site to some relevant web directories and blog directories making sure you are placing the listing in the correct topical sub directory.

If you need help with the linkbuilding part let me know i will elaborate on 6 & 7 but 1-5 are important

The main advantage of using Canderel over Sugar are that it contains lower calories. One teaspoon of Canderel has roughly 2 Calories in it versus the 16 Calories found in a teaspoon of sugar. Some people also report it has a less bitter taste than sugar as a whole.

FYI -Some people struggle to grow a custom to Canderel and basically choose not have any Sugar in there tea or coffee.

For more information on Sugar and Canderel and the differences between the two please visit http://www.Google.com/ if you live in another region find the appropriate TLD and replace in the url accordingly.

My personal preference Sugar 1 in my tea, any more SEO related questions from people that need help

I don't think it's fair to attack somebodies credentials straight from the off I happen to know that Anthony (linkwatcher) has headed teams as the head of SEO at some large UK based firms, I also happen to know that he has been quite helpful to people in the past and I also know he has a pretty track record, now as a competitor I wouldn't sing sombodies praises lightly, but I do think you should really check before calling somebody a fraud *cough* canonical *cough*
