People fight so much out for attaining that elusive first 3 spots in Google for their search results. And SEO consultants charge hell a lot to make that happen for our website. One of the first SEO lessons that I have learnt is 'Find your niche keyword that does not have much competition'. I defied that and chose to build my blog with a keyword that throws in 203,000,000 search results. Obviously, there is a lot of competition. And today, after all my efforts, my blog stands number 2 in the search for that keyword. So, I have succeeded in my SEO.. But what I find is I have very little (so little that you cannot imagine) traffic from search engines. Just wonder why I am facing this problem. It's not that niche one which people hardly search too. Now, after all the efforts, I wonder if SEO has a place in website marketing at all!
Top rankings in search engine for a keywords doesn't mean that you'll get high traffic. It also depends on the search volume of the keywords that you are targeting.
Hi XooX, Did you use any keyword suggestion tool or are you just looking at the number of results that come up for your keyword? You may be using a term which is slightly different to the term that people actually use most.
Yeah this was common for me aswell, I no longer focus on just "One" keyword, I now Blog and Write for many Keywords - actually I no longer really focus on the search engine results, I just build and write my butt off. I also submit each article / blog post to all my relative sites, my tip is don't focus to heavily on "Keywords" just keep working and getting new content and eventually everything will fall into place.
Make sure your description is clickworthy. A lot of time auto googles description of your site detracts from its clickability. I suggest using a meta description that is individualized on your strongest pages. This makes the difference between someone click on your result or the one above or below you.
SEO certainly has its place, but you need to find the best or most utilised keywords for conversions. High numbers of SERPs dont necessarily mean high conversions
SEO has a huge place in website marketing, if you don't get too much traffic from the search engines then there's a problem. On one of my websites I get over 95% of the traffic from the search engines, on others, at least 70-80%. Unless you are paying a lot of money to those who are referring to your website, most of your traffic should come from the search engines (as long as you have optimized your website properly). To find a niche keyword it's really great but what's really important is to find a keyword that people are looking for - otherwise you will be the only one who will see that page where you appear second. Good luck.
Obviously you are targeting a bad keyword. You needed to find a keyword that has little competition but high searches. I just achieved rank 2 for my target keyword 'Naruto Wallpaper' and it brings 500 uniques per day.
First of all, sorry for not replying quick enough on this thread. Anyway, Thank you everyone for writing to me. Yes, as should have been evident to you by now, I had not used any keyword suggestion tool. However, I was actually advised against it by a SEO friend because he said that most of them fail to give the actual results. Could someone suggest a free keyword suggestion tool, which you think is really worthy and shall give a true picture? Thanks again
Well your SEO friend is not very smart. A keyword research tool is far better than guessing, even if they are inaccurate at times. I like to use www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html.
Thanks live-cms.com I do realize that I have made a mistake in not using a keyword research tool. I guess I would have gotten lot more traffic compared to what I have now, had I used the right keyword.
hi, i went to your link keyworddiscovery but I cannot find for which search engines these keywords are typed : google, yahoo, .... ? I advise omniture.com
I think the best would be https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal Have started using it now..
Yes, SEO help .. In three days, my blog were listed in google.com - total search results 2,000,000 but my blog were listed in the 6th page .. just in three days ..
It all depends on the keyword and the links you have. The keyword probably is not very in demand or you have strong links
About seo, search engines can only bring your listing to the top, if your title and description is not relevant or appealing to the user they will not click no matter what position you are, also how does your page look to the first time user when they hit it?
