Here is a bit of insight about SEO cost in Australia "and paid about $3000 for his initial search engine optimisation work" More about SEO business in Australia in this article: http://businessnetwork.smh.com.au/articles/2006/04/27/4494.html I would expect that the prices in USA will be much lower? Are they?
Interesting article. SEO (as in Search Engine Optimisation and not SEM) is still very much in it's infancy in Australia, so yeah, I would imagine you would be paying top dollar due to the simple fact there is little to no competition. Found Agency are quoted in the article. Do a search for "SEO" on google.com, and you'll find they are on the first page of the SERPs. You can definately say they know their SEO
Hats off to the sydney morning herald for a good article on seo and to the companies who got a mention. The journalist (JUSTIN PARFITT) though deserves an upper-cut for not linking out to those who contributed content for his story. Fine! you understand the value of a link from your authority news site, but you couldn't write that article unless the webmasters involved commented for you. So pay respect. Your paper made tens of thousands of dollars in advertising revenues by being able to run that good content. Pay your bills mate! So many media outlets are interested in learning seo at the moment, but the journalists that understand how valuable a link is from a news story (most of them don't) are all of a sudden prudes when it comes to linking out. YOU DON'T GET IT! They forget what rules the online universe: content. We wont give you content and have a free flowing relationship with you unless you pay your dues with us and link out to your content contributors. The news outlets that will link out to their content contributors will be favoured massively by authority media spokespersons. Anyone who is media savvy and seo savvy will ignore your publication and send exclusives to your competitors who do show respect. I've been quoted in every newspaper in my country (Australia) [regularly for a decade] that people pay to buy [except the financial times (only one I haven't done yet)] (i.e. excluding the free ones they toss on your lawn that are mainly advertising). In most cases the journalist has said 'no worries, what is the address' when I ask for a mention and a link to the site I'm making news on. My relationship with journalists is: I comment = they mention one of my websites 90% of the time in the article and instruct the webmaster to make it a link in the online version. If you want to scrunch your butt cheeks up and chat with us, but not link out... we won't talk to you again, we will talk to your competitors, or another journalist at your publication and cut you off. You can get away with this kinda stuff when you are dealing with people who aren't media savvy, and seo savvy but forget it if you want to treat people this way who know whats what. And if someone comes up to you today and slaps you in the back of the head as you type, it will be a journalist that is a friend on mine that works at your paper and knows you had it coming.
Actually Nick Miller was the journalist. And Justin Parfitt is from Fast Impressions - speed dating company. Yes, it is true newspapers are very bad with linking out. It seems that radio stations like ABC and others are more link friendly. The two other SEO companies mentioned in the artilcle are Amplify and Advanet. The other interesting info was about the SEO market size in Australia. Those numbers are hard to get so I thought it could be good idea to post them here, so we know what are we aiming for. AUSTRALIAN MARKET SIZE · Paid search 2005* $130 million (forecast $185 million in 2006) · Paid search services** $17 million · Estimated SEO market $30-50 million * Revenue for all vendors such as Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing and Sensis BidSmart http://www.smh.com.au/news/technolo...y/2006/04/24/1145730836863.html?page=fullpage
I think SEO really is in it's infancy in Australia and there is probably some companies making some good money ( and good on them!). Check out the results for this search seo Only 482,000 results! Piece of pie! Although, SEM and PPC Marketing companies seem to be running rampant, Ive had three clients tell me there getting phone calls from certain companies wanting to manage there campaigns! I hope those companies go about things the right way, I really dont want to see the industry tarnished.
Hi everyone I run the afore mentioned Fast Impressions and I can say that the found agency were useless. they were more concerned with managing adwords (and taking a 15% cut) than with optimizing our site to acheive a high natural ranking. Given that we didn't get a link in the SMH article, and that I was incorrectly identified as the author, I hope noone objects if I place links to my various sites here! How do I get to post a live link? Thanks!!!
Seems that is the case with the majority of SEM companies here in Australia. I am having a hard time of it trying to find any real SEO postiions available, they all want you to manage PPC campaigns.
Hi I only charge AU$350 and have a 100% success ratio. some 200+ managed sites and growing daily, and with enough returning customers to keep me going for years to come, When i started, i contacted all the "leading" seo firms here in Australia, to see if i could get some seo work with them, and only one 1 got back to me. and then even he bagged me out. anyway, now there all prime targets. I'm already no1 on msn for "Australian search engine optimization" and want the rest of the engines as well, Im into the low 200's on the other engines after a few weeks, and falling. I'm also the highest ranked Australian in the seo world championship by miles. if anyone wants seo insight just drop me a line,, its free to DP members have a fantastic day Philski
NetRegistry - http://www.netregistry.com.au/online-marketing/ has a free seo report or for AU$199 a detailed report or the full works for AU$990 over a six month period. I havn't actually done any business with them so I can't really recommend them.
3000$ damm and i charged 500$ foe 2 keyphrases with 9 milion results I need new clients and more like this
SEO prices are going down, with more competion from every direction, but a good seo consulting work requires time, and sometimes much more time, as many websites are being redesigned to be more search engine friendly.
No offense but the word "optimisation" that they are using, is in British English. It's the same when they use it in word like "personalise".. etc. Anyway, I agree with dcristo. SEM in Australia is still at its infant stage, so there are a lot of Marketing and Consulting Companies who can exploit this market. By the way who's doing searches for "Australian Search Engine Optimisation" or "SEO" anyway? If I'm from Australia (assuming I do not know SEO), I'll probably use the keyphrases like "Top in google", "Rank in Google/Yahoo" and "search engine optimisation".
I live in australia and their is deffiantly a massive market down here for SEO, some business get ripped off by people, ive heard of people trading cars for website and SEO work which woudl take me 10 hours to do.
