SEO consultants, etc. - How much do you work?

I'm considering becoming a search engine optimizer or SEO consultant. About how much do you work on average for a given day? How much do you usually make? How much should I expect to charge if I'm new to the industry but I do have proof my methods work as I have a site ranked in the top 10 for two competitive keywords and ranked #1 for another competitive keyword?

As with everything it varies. I make decent (much more than working an IT job), but I work insane hours most weeks. I could work less and make the same thing, but as an self-employed SEO/Designer/Developer I find myself always pushing and building sites that will hopefully pay off in the future. I spend the little free time I have reading message boards and blogs trying to learn more and keep up with what all is going on out there. If I weren't so greedy and just wanted to slow down and take the money I have coming in, I would probably have to work about 24 hours a week, but that is with firing one and having one student employee (local college students) working about the same hours. That is just to keep the regular clients I have happy.

The problem you are going to have getting started is finding clients that understand and are willing to pay for what you are offering. Most just don't get it. If you have a couple of clients ranking well, go to them and milk them for leads. The best way to sell anything is word of mouth. If you are referred from a friend or business associate, the sell is almost guaranteed.

The amount you can charge getting started is based on the level of clientèle. Typically, it will not be much. I try to structure mine hourly so that they get what they pay for. If you pay X dollars, you get Y hours. If you just say "I'll do SEO for X" dollars and don't break it down into what you will provide you can get in trouble and end up providing more than you get paid for.

    Nothing is constant

If you whant to make yourself a career but the main reason are the money and not doing what you like then you are living for nothing

witch is more then enouf to live where i'm from
