Granted there isn't a whole lot of networking going on, but certainly a lot of information sharing. Putting together a nice link network is a decent idea, but google tends to spot those sorts of things these days, and based on other link networks I've joined in the past, they tend to fall apart pretty quick.

DP got many members and you got answer for your question almost instantly. I also think there are some SEO chat rooms in IRC but I never used those though.
