actually I was from SEOchat in the old days before i discovered dp .. I would think that seochat was the best forum for my seo knowledge until i discoved dp .. I was a regular seochat member but it loads too slow .. and i think that i will get the same information and knowledge here in dp
I have been frequenting both forums for quite a while. I think the primary difference is that SEO Chat is much more focused on SEO, while DP is much lighter and is more a community that discusses anything and everything. They both have their place.
I've been a member at seochat for years and consider it one of the best seo forums in the world.... For some reason, I came in here to DP late... Don't know why cause this is now one of my favorite aswell.... I'd say DP and SEOCHAT are my two favorites, but seochat will always be my most comfortable place since it's where I started learning everything I know.... The ads/pageload is a little out of hand though.....
sensei /sen-say/ - Instructor Kyokushinkai was developed by Mas Oyama. Oyama studied Goju Ryu karate, Shotokan karate and some Korean martial arts which he developed into his own style called Kyokushinkai. Oyama was an extremely strong man who popularised his art by inviting challengers to fight him and through stunts, such as killing bulls with his bare hands. Black belt gradings in Kyokushinkai are well known for their large number of kumite (sparring fights), sometimes as many as a 100. Sosai Mas Oyama died, of lung cancer (as a non-smoker), at the age of 70 in April 1994 Origin of Kyokushinkai: Japan Founder of Kyokushinkai: Mas Oyama http://www.kyokushinmail.com/koya/Kyokushin.htm
ahhh. Sansei is my partner Martin btw. He has lived in Japan for a while. I was wondering what the origin of his user ID was
I'm about to go out and party. Long weekend ahead. My pc is always on, and whenever I'm in the house, first thing I do is check DP and my email hehe
It is actually a bit sad at this point, what SEOChat has become. The last few days have seen a continuous slide. No matter what other people said, I always thought they were great for SEO knowledge without a lot of distraction which made the ads tolerable. Lately they have been trying to imitate DP with all kinds of General Chat. They have also started letting people take over with 3 word posts and talking down to those seeking help. Add to that ridiculous features like a shout box (abused now of course), karate belts and public rep that renders serious posts unreadable. At last read it seems a lot of respected SEOs have left there. There are still some damn good ones left but if they get pushed out, that will be the end. I'm ranting because I tried to get some info today and every post I found was filled with crap. The great thing about DP is that all that crap (most of which I've added) is in the General Section. I hope its only a phase
I call it calculated containment. Tough job keeping General Chat (relatively) confined to General Chat.
Whoever disses or looks down on general chat clearly does not understand what people like. Webmasters don't want to talk about webmaster stuff all day. Seo chat is cool when you want certain info ... you post, wait til someone responds, and that's it. Otherwise it's very stuffy. No excitement, no anything. Reading the threads is like reading long articles that you don't really want to read, but feel like you have to out of fear of missing something. This forum is the best, but it's true that general chat issues sometimes get taken into the other sections and water down the good info. Also we have a lot of people asking about their individual sites ... but as I see, they are being removed into website reviews quickly (where they complain about it)
The general chat hear helps me to really connect with people and I feel that they are much more real and not just a computer generated answer. Take Mike for an example, because of general chat we all know he is just bully, pushing people around cause he is 6'8" and 300lbs! J/K I like mike...
Also, in truth... without SEO Chat, this forum would probably have never come about. SEO Chat was the only forum I really used, and I was even a moderator. But over time it just got slower and slower (more ads, as well as other things that affected it like pretty much every non-Google related topic being posted in the Google forum). So when I decided I needed a forum to support the free tools, I decided to also see if I could make a SEO/webmaster forum how *I* would want it. Ultimately I'm an efficiency/speed freak, and SEO Chat's format was not making good use of my time.
A lot of seo's are very efficient and they are not always the ones hanging in forums. Seochat now has the same old members and mods talking about the same old stuff. It gets old. I've tried it again just to remember what I once got tired of.
I'd like to have more of a look at their forums, but I hate the load time of pages. Soooo slow. Sure they have to make a buck but there is such a thing as limiting ad formats and file sizes to suit their placement.
My first love was SEOchat .. they have a huge amount of good info and some nice moderators (egol) ... But they also have a TON of newbs coming on every 5 minutes whining about their site in google.. it's really annoying. After coming here I feel the level of user intelligence is a bit higher.. and DP is much more user friendly / readable. Both places offer a lot of valuable info
I'm just surprised to see this thread is still going on. When I started this thread, I was just curious to get a few posts to it and see what other folks thought, but I didn't expect for it to continue like this. Suffice to say, DP rocks.
