I've got some Gmail invites left so we could set up some e-mail accounts for communication.

It is a great idea - but I'm more inclined toward the 'doing good' with the collective SEO power of this group. Perhaps something political - but more likely something charitable. The idea being 'proof' that our 'industry' is willing to set commerce aside and use our talents to promote something truly worthwhile (although I believe a completely new thread will appear with what that worthwhile cause might be). The Public Relations opportunities would be great.... I smell a story in the Wall Street Journal.

Christmas and homeless are very two timely items.

It's perfect if we have the time for a new domain/ site to get listed.

However, if it is marketed as a competition for Christmas AND all profits go to charity then the news pages will pick it up (so long as you tell them). This will get you hundreds of excellent backlinks.

A spoof site in the UK for "what to do in an emergency" for being bombed etc rose through the ranks from viral alone - and was #1 against the government site - so it can be done.

I can certainly handle the PR in the UK (the marketing whizz that I am :D ) and would love to learn the seo that goes into it for my part

    ciao

Come on then... Let's get cracking.

We somehow need to organise this.

It's all good talking about it but we should really get going.

Alright, let's pick the domain, pick a charity or two. Maybe one in the US and one in the UK, get an adsense account and set it up. Someone will have to volunteer to manage the project. I know I don't have the time to do it so who do we nominate?

but perhaps a different connetation (sp) if this is going to be a shopping site ?

Anyhow, I have the previous domains in a basket ready to buy - if these are not suitable let me know as I don't want to put £42 down the drain.

    Go for it.
Man I'm looking forward to this project.
    OK...

So how do we plan in generating revenue from this?
    Adsense is a given.
    Affiliate schemes?

    Kids toys, ideal holiday's????????

They'res hundreds of ways we can generate cash from a site with a lot of traffic...

    So lets do it.

    £42!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Who do you use?

No matter, just get them and we'll point them to a server somewhere...

yeah I know but no-one else was offering and they're dot coms - .co.uk are much less - anyhow they are for 2 years though and for 2 domains :D

OK , they are purchased, so that's my initial contribution.

    Next Hosting ? takers ?

    Then content, hmmmmmmmm

How do you guys feel about using cloaking software to generate some content for the site?

I couldn't use my version of the software I use (Doesn't belong to me - company), but between a few of us the cost would be low.
It's a quick way to generate a hell of a lot of content, plus - It's great fun to play around with.

There are loads of options out there for what we could use.

    I know searchenginecloaker.com - It's real good.
There are others that I hear are just as good if not better though.

I will purchase the .ca's if necessary, as for hosting, most of us prolly have server room. I am not sure I want that much traffic though ;)

I vote no on the cloaking, but there are different kinds of cloaking if I am not mistaken.

illegal vs. legal cloaking? I thought it was all illegal. But then again, it just goes to show how much there is to know (and a big reason why I'm here).
