Before you hire people as baby sitters of your site, make sure you also know how they do their SEO juices....

Yes, companies with more money to throw at their SEO campaigns have bigger budgets...

We definitely have been working for years at getting the biggest bang for our buck in the PPC arena. That is an ongoing part of my job. As a matter of fact, our average of $1.50 per click has been approximately $1.80 to $1.90 per click in previous years...but we've worked over time to get that price down, and keep it there.

We do realize that we are #1 in paid and organic rankings for some of our keywords, but have seen over the years that having that top spot in organic rankings is not all it takes. That is why I work so hard at getting the site the absolute most relevant traffic from our PPC campaigns. Our campaigns are currently set to a pretty stringent standard....

As I stated before, we run our ads only about 10 hours a day, five days a week. We only run our ads in the lower 48 United States; and in larger metro areas. Most of our keywords and phrases have been set on 'exact match', and we now have NO keyword or phrases on 'broad' any longer. The broad search still brought us poorly-targeted traffic at times; even using about 200 negative keywords. Some inevitably slipped through the cracks. We also do not do content placement ads - EVER. They brought the worst traffic of all for us! The list goes on...

We are always working to save on our PPC campaigns, but realize we will not make money without spending it. We are in competition with other multi-million dollar companies, and many times, the web site that gets the first visit gets the job.

This depends on your sites niche and how competitive your keywords are... Obviously the more competitive the more money you will need to spend.
