SEO Audit Recommendations Wanted - Google Seems to Dislike my Domain/Site

I have an EMD and am mainly targeting the EMD phrase. It is also how I've branded my site.

I was pretty much #1 in Google until Panda hit, then I tanked to the 3-4th page. I finally got back to the sixth spot for about 1-2 months until Hummingbird just recently and now I'm not even in the top 10 pages!

I'm just not sure what's going on with this particular site to be honest. I have successfully done SEO for my other sites, it's just this one is giving me problems! My Bing rankings are fine.

I have a Moz subscription and am wondering firstly I guess what a SEO audit does above and beyond what I can get using those tools (and others) and what you otherwise think of my case?

Also if an SEO audit is the way forward, any recommendations on who to get to do it?

 

Google and Bing algo are completely different that is why you are ranking fine in Bing and not in Google. As per my experience any tool where it is Moz or SenRush or anything else just give you a data for your own analysis. And If you say that you have done complete SEO that does not mean that you will not be hit by google update if you are doing anything unethical/wrong (Like EMD) and after warning you did not changed your keyword targeting and way of working. For example You have very good Vehicle (Website)with lots of facilities (Say SEO audit tool) and you have a very good knowledge of driving (Say you know SEO also) but if you are not using the right thing at right place than definitely you will accident.

Entrep, how does the backlink anchor text distribution look for that particular domain? I am referring to the percentages of exact match anchors, naked urls and generic anchors. The sites I have seen hit by hummingbird seem to have a problem with anchor text distribution percentages. Of course there is a theory that there is a threshold of tolerance for things that get sites penalized where your EMD might be just below that threshold and a competitor with higher DA etc might be above that threshold and could get away with the same thing that penalizes you. And since your tactics are probably the same for the sites that didn't get hit, you have to consider that sometimes Google just sucks and will hammer a site over and over for no apparent reason.

 

Hey thanks for the response. It's well over 50% of back links that have the anchor text for the EMD/brand I want.

 

EMDs were hit hardly with google updates, so that's why probably you've dropped. What I have learned past few days is that it's better and safer to do part EMD for example instead of payday.com you should do paydaytoday.com etc

An seo auditor won't tell you many other things.. Interesting that you were affected by Panda and HB, they both are about website quality, site relevance and user experience.
How Google measures it is anybody's guess, but it looks like your particular site is for some reason deemed irrelevant to the search query you want to rank for.

 

The anchor text rules after Panda suggest about 30% of anchors to be the URL BUT your URL is your main KW too - looks like a catch 22 in your case.
Try to get more links with less relevant anchors to lower your 50% to about 20-25 would be my first suggestion. For more I need to see your site.
