well, I'm currently working as in online marketing and my duties also involve SEO. Companies are starting now employing seo consultants in europe but I see loads of people with minimal knowledge just trying to jump on the bandwagon... hopefully in the future it'll be a more serious thing, right now I prefer to focus on sem and general online marketing. good luck!

I have also completed engineering in computer and today i have more than one year of experience in SEO field. According to me, lots of sites in different areas are developed today. But to take and keep your site position best on internet is the fundamental necessary for any site. My advice is, don't put all your eggs in one basket. I have been working in SEO for 6 years now, but I leave my mind open and thrive to learn other skills. SEO industry is fluorishing now, but who knows in 4-5 years what might happen? In this day and age no industry has guarantee to be around for many years. The world's moving too fast, so i don't take anything for granted. Hi friend, In my opinion you should work as a SEO. You know its a recession period, there is no much opportunity for job, if you have this opportunity then grab it. You are an IT engg graduate then you have to learn this technology and SEO techniques. Because, today clients seem to be mostly interested in Google, Yahoo, AOL and MSN. This limits the databases we have to work with. This makes the job of an SEO much harder, and more frustrating. It's just not as easy as it used to be to get high rankings. Even more I would forcefully suggest software engineers to join SEO field as they can easily understand the flow of algorithm and the changing nature of algorithm as well.
