Need to have a good profile / already existing work done for clients / work experience for this (a) learn SEO (b) work as a trainee alongside an experienced SEO initially / work for free for clients in order to earn a good recommendation (c) SEARCH for proper and long standing SEO work (there's no substitute for hard work, it will pay in the end, so keep searching and working ) 2. think of all the 1000000000000s of websites online, theres really no end, even if only 5% of these want optimization done, still you have a good amount of work
Yes, I agree with mistnee, I requires time and dedication but when you've got your reputation, no advertising or marketing for your business is needed. There are usually more requests than you can handle. Best seems to start on a local niche where good results can spread by word of mouth.

The only reason why everyone is saying seo is limited is because they are amateurs... I hate to be so blunt but it is true. It is like saying that the real estate market is limited. It is not limited, knowledge of realty and the ability to sell is the key... seo is only limited by your experience, knowledge and ability to do what you are being paid to do. I have yet to find a good seo who is not in high demand... If you know your business you will not fail to find clients, I don't care if it is seo or realty or any other business.
From my experience, you have the knowledge of html, a web programming language, and internet marketing. SEM + html + programming. If you have these 3 qualities, lots of money and you will be always safe.
There are great opportunities in SEO field. But remember there are too much competition also. You need to provide result to survive.

SEO is always rocking, people made site once but they need to get business always from site..so everyone wants that they get good business from net also, from here seo work starts and this is endless If you have gr8 knowledge about SEO, and its updates and having knowledge abt Internet marketing that will make marks in your career..
I work for an advertising company on their SEO team and while I feel my job is secure at the moment, with the way Google is changing the way its search engine works then I will be addiing some more marketing/web site design skills in the future.
