Is it better for seo to have webpages in the main directory with the home page rather than in sub directories or does it make no difference?????

If a site has many pages I would think that having some of the pages in sub folders would make the site easier to manage because the files would be better organized. For example a site having a shopping section, the shopping pages might be put in a sub folder. I was wondering pages in a sub folder would be negatively affected by seo.....

subdomains are considered as separate sites and not good for SEO. sub-directories or folders on the other hand are part of same site and has no adverse impact on SEO. in fact, if you have content in various topics, it is only wise to use folders to categorize them for better management

In directory submission only thing which is considered is submit your website in most relevant category either its Main directory or Sub directory.
