Does having addon domains effect SEO I transferred a few of my sites to a new shared server, and they seemed to get de-indexed as a results. I have them as addon domains and new sites I add as addon domains don't seem to get indexed well. Any idea's of what might be going on? Thanks,
I built a huge site 900+ pages and Google was indexing some of the pages as MyMainDomain.MyAddonDomain.com and I was scared for a while and thought I was going to be punished for duplicate content. But after a couple of weeks Google figured it out and I don't seem to have suffered any negative effects.
Shifting server will not effect much your ranking unless if your are shifting to any local server and targeting local clients with .com or general domains. As long as your URL structure is not changed, you would not see much difference in ranking. Google tend to give credit to local listing if you shift your site to local hosting. If you shift your site away from local hosting to US, then you might face some ranking loses in local search and gains in .com search.
