A few days back i bought another .info domain the reason i bought another one was i wanted to build a online iphone case and accessory store as all the best domain names had gone but the biggest issue that was worrying me was the trademark issue of using iphone in the domain so my logic behind it was if i was told to stop using it i would hardly loose any money due to the cheap purchase price of a .info domain but it has worked out very well and they only go after people with specific names that that totally out of order.Just my thoughts on it
What will you do, when iphone guys ask you to take it down after couple of years while your site is completely established?
If .info is the same as any other TLD's. How come .com is always appearing first every time i search for something and not much .info? i had a hard time choosing between .com and .info on my first domain because of this, i wanted .info because its cheap.
I don't believe TLDs have that much of an difference. How could they? All the good domain are long gone in .coms, .nets and even .orgs, so when people start companies and get .lys, .des and such that fit their name/are available, they are instantly penalized?
Everyone says it doesn't matter, but when I make searches in google I rarely see .infos on top. This could be because a lot more people are using .coms, but you can't really prove that is the reason there are less showing up in search results. And the point was made about .infos being cheaper. Google is a very smart company, I'm sure they have checks in their algorithms that give a small amount less rank to these sites, at least in the beginning until they can establish themselves.
It is provable. Find a .com with bad SEO. Buy the .info and out-SEO it. The .info will win every time. If there was a preference, the .com would win. I did this a few years back to a local businessman who I had a bit of a personal grudge against. He didn't take it too well. Needless to say, I thought it was funny as hell.
The reason you don't see many .info at the top of google is because it's a newer extension. The domain extension doesn't matter when it comes to seo.
I don't think they have any diffference. I have several sites that cover all these domain extensions. They all work well. I really haven't notice any difference.
