SEO and hostgator subdomains

Hi, I have realized that while hosting with hostgater, you can have unlimted domain names. But when you add on a domain name not only can you see it on the top level domain but also as a subdomain of your primary domain.

    Example

    Primary Domain:www.car.com
Add on domain: www.funnyvideos.com and www.funnyvideos.car.com

I'm wondering if this would have any affect on SEO, i mean would the subdomain appear on google search engines or anything???

Anyone know the answer to this queston?

If you have links to the sub-domain it will be indexed by google, if there's no links nobody would realize it exists.

    Use the actual .com domain.

domain is domain - also different for search engines, no matter if it's on one on more hosts.
also subdomains - google see it as different normal domains.
Each will be indexed in Google, each may have different pagerank after update.

The only difference is that all will be served from same IP.
This makes some difference but not so big and important.
Still you can talk to HG for buying seperate IPs for each domain addon.

Thanks for the help guys, its a bit odd though i asked them to get rid of it they said they can't and thats how the cpanel works. I never had this problem with siteground or wizwebhost.

So whats the problem with the subdomain having the same ip anyways? I guess you can't do 3 way link then. Since it would be considered reciporal link would it? Even though i'm using two host.

It's not a problem having a sub-domain, you just ignore it. There's no reason to even access the sub-domain - forget it even exists.

But if you link one of your site to the other, then your basically linking the primary site to itself since its just its subdomain. Just sounds kinda wierd, but arite i'll take your advice for it and ignore it.

You won't gain any SEO benefit from having one link to the other.

True since they are same ip, thats why i'm registered with hostgator and siteground. Some sites on each host, so different C-Class IP. ^_^

    It's unrelated to the IPs.

Your www.domain.com won't gain any benefit from subdomain.domain.com linking to it since subdomain.domain.com wont have any backlinks and therefore wont have any linking power.
