I figured this was best suited for this section and not domains.
Anyways, for seo purposes, which would be better?

    sitename.cc or sitename.name or thesitename.com or buysitename.com or 2sitename.com

    Thanks.

acc to me, .com domains are always preferred...

So I would cut the first 2 off the list..

of the remain three I would choose thesitename.com if you site is content based...

If its a ecomm site.. then I would go for buysitename.com

For SEO purpose, I believe sitename.com (if there is) is the best choice :)

I generally type sitename and then press CTRL + ENTER. and lo behold I get

www.sitename.com. Keep this in mind while choosing domain name (.com, .biz etc.)

If you didn't get what I meant above, always choose .com.

No no. You should get keyword.com instead. Or keywordonline.com or keyword1-keyword2.com or something like that.

Sitename won't help in SERPs, unless you are searching for your customers are search for your sitename.

    Maybe im not to clear.

sitename.com is taken, but many other are available (sitename.cc, sitename.name, sitename.sc). People search for sitename. Would I receive better results with above names or someting like 123sitename.com? Thanks
