I have been told that actually having a Txt Link Vrs a Banner on Your Web Page is a better way to increase your SEO hit's . I am still trying to master SEO but doesn't anyone know if SEO tools are affected by Banners if they pick up HTML Banners at all?

I suggest for text link instead of banner, but if you have to use banner only then you should have alt tag on banner image to help search engine understand about image and where it has been linked to.

Ok just learning HTML and spent 5 days on SEO training. Can you explain how to add the "alt tag" on the banner image works and how you place it into the HTML of the Banner itself?

    Thanks!

You simply add the alt="..." html code inside your image hyperlink, an example is below.

The alt html tag is actually for text web browsers and screen readers, it's an alternate text displayed when the image can't be, Google also uses this tag as a description of the picture to help rank it in the image search results. Provide a short to par description of the image.

I would think they both have the same value as long as your using an ALT text with your image.

Honestly :D No. Both of them carry different weight and anchor text carry more . Alt tag has more restrict and got diluted its weight due to some black hat spam on alt tag before. You should not use alt tag with every pictures on your site and alt tag only carry weight when your image is link.

You have to add a alt tag to all images to have w3c validate site depending on your doctype.
