Morning, I've recently designed a website, although its not ranking too highly, I've been out of the seo loop for a while and mainly focussed on design, guessing thats why its not ranking well. please take a look here: http://tinyurl.com/8y3rcuy. I'd prefer it if the Url isn't posted here. Any ideas would be fantastic. btw I understand this is a newbie way of doing it, though advice would be amazing. Cheers
The homepage seems solid SEO-wise. I would link to some of your internal pages inside the first 3 paragraphs of content that ends with the signature. For link-development, start building out some Web 2.0 properties and point contextual links to your inner pages. Use social bookmarking & blog commenting services on your web 2.0 properties. Ping those links as they come in. Buy some high-PR blog posts pointing to your homepage.
Cheers for that, makes alot of sense, lot of content to read through, believe it will help. Regarding web 2.0 properties, what do you mean? ie microsites pointing towards the website? Where would you suggest buying links from? thanks alot
Build .com microsites, wordpress/blogger/tumblr blogs, etc. I know a place for great SEO/link services, shoot me a PM for the info.
Honestly, it average, certainly nothing that's going to hurt you. I'd suggest putting some content in those <h1/2> tags though not just images. Also don't be scared of HTML5, using the sectioning content such as <section> and <nav> would really help. Finally a little bit of microdata/rich snippets would also help. If you want to go more intense, then loosing the index.php?page=foo style links in favour of /foo style links would give a little +1. Again, nothing that's going to hurt though, it's fine.
Thanks for that ppcoach, might just do that. Blacknet are the alt tags not sending, effectively, text for the search engine to read? I've changed all the link styles, plus where can I read up on html5? cheers.
The alt tags are most likely sending fine, it's just that Google doesn't really care about alt tags anymore when ranking a site. They don't do nearly as much as they used to. For HTML5, this is a really cool site (contains some more advanced tutorials, but has some beginner things in it: http://www.html5rocks.com/en/).
deal with the OPSEO first. i know because your site title is a bit too long and not SEO optimized. by then, you can start with link building
I've added a H1 tag, and remove a couple of pictures, adding text instead. Following you're advice I've added links into the welcome content. The site was coded in xhtml, as that's what I know, thought it would be good enough, I'll take a look through that site, thanks. Any other ideas for it, going to get a few local review, presume that will help the site improve on local search? Thanks for that, I'll try shortening it, any suggestions for what would be better targetted, else any other ideas for On Page seo? My target audience are amazing Not sure what you mean by that question? Mainly looking to rank higher, then gain traffic that will convert in to leads.
If you have a physical location to add, definitely add it. Put that on your FB page, Google+ page, everywhere. And yes, do local reviews if you can get some.
I'm not sure, though facebook and google+ don't seem appropriate for this business, all trade is B2B, not b2c. how would you add the physical location? ie the address and contact details are at the bottom of each page.
