SEO affect of changing url

    If a website changes it's URL but redirect from the old one, what affect will this have on SEO?

    At the moment we own both the .org and .org.uk domain with the .org.uk the main url and .org redirecting to it. We want to change this so the .org is the main url.

    How much of a problem will this cause and can anything else be done to prevent a negative affect.

    there will be no issue with old to new redirection your all back links which is pointing to old url will have to point to new one...best luck

    The Negative SEO affect of Changing URL

    1. If your domain is .org.uk and you want to redirect it to .org you get no benefits from your localization in comparison from .org.uk
    2. Even if you implement 301 permanent redirect to new domain it doesn't change your site appearance in Google search results it will take some time to show your new domain. And So Many small things that affects SEO.
