    Hi,
I am the owner of www.yahoofanclub.com Its a forum on yahoo based services. as you can see the forums on the main page, most of the users who visit the forums think that its just a forum and doesnot have any downloads page or other pages.

I am thinking of changing it to portal page. I have many page indexed in SEs. mostof the pages are like:

    my domain name/ page link.html

Please tell me if it will effect my SEO.

Its always hard to know if changing something as considerable as what your saying will cause a positive or negative effect.

If you can produce a decent portal page that has good textual content about your site ie "Welcome to Yahoo! FanClub. Our vibrant community..." and more then you shouldnt have a problem as your backlinks are already pointing towards your root domain.

Alternatively you could look at making the other sections more prominant within the site - at the moment the navigation to the other sections in the left navigation panel could quite easily be interpreted as some sort of sponsored or affiliated links. Perhaps make some more graphic buttons and stick them up somewhere near your logo...

    Best of luck...

I was working on the accumption you had significant on your downloads and other pages. Having had a look i'd leave your site as it is and not change it to a portal page - just simply make those links a little more prominant perhaps. The best idea would probably be to have a sticky or announcement in the actual forum informing people of the extra pages. At the end of the day those additional pages aren't up to the same quality or quantity as your main forum so i definately wldnt move it off the root domain!

uumm.... I think you took it a little odd. That portal page you see is just a DEMO page. The links on it are not working. Nor do anything else written on it really matters.

I am also working on the downloads page. ... Do you any site which has a good layout of Downloads Section

I am uploading another page with some changes in the color. have a look and please review about it.

Well, the portal idea is good,if you want to shift the focus, towards the entire Yahoofanclub site, because if I would visit the site,I would also think that it is only a forum site, but by using the portal,I would actually think, that it is a complete website and see the other links on the site as well. But if your forum is getting alot of traffic already, just state the fact, maybe with a message or something to let visitors know of the other parts of your site. You must also keep in mind that changing the site to a portal, will maybe make regular visitors confused,as they will want to know where your forum is now.

Yeah I guess you are right Dassie. I am thinking of developing the downloads and the other sections before I think about the Portal thing. Coz if I create a portal I need something to show people. Do you have any other advice about my site. ??
