Hi Just doing a bit of analysis on one of my sites. Just looking for a bit of advice as to what I should do next. Comparing my site with the site at No. 1 on google for the term "Diesel Tuning", i have the following: dieseltuning.co.uk - Position 1: PR0 Google links - 0 Yahoo links - 68 Alexa Rank - 3093574 Age - Jan 11 2005 Delicious index - 2 Internal Links - 16 Ext Links - 1 Website grade (website.grader.com) - 20 bhpplus.co.uk - Position 7 PR2 Google Links - 3 Yahoo Links - 876 Alexa Rank - 3046816 Age - jun 29 2006 Delicious index - 3 Internal Links - 21 Ext Links - 1(1) website grade - 60 Apart from the URL i can't see any other factor that is causing their site to be No.1 and our site No.7. What should i be doing to push our site higher? Cheers Pete
the url to keyword matching has more significance than most people think. When competition for a keyword is very low then just the url keywords can get you top alone
1: Pr has nothing to do with ranking.. so no point comparing the PR 2: No point comparing the number of inbound links either. ---- You can't beat him on the url.. so forget that one. Concentrate on relevant links.. You can beat him by easily getting 10-15 more inbound links from autosites, better if they are from diesel sites and tuning sites.. and then just wait... EDIT: Wait:....... 35% Increased Power & Torque Up to 35% more efficient driving providing up to 35% increased BHP! Your first H1 tag has "35% Increased Power & Torque" >> Your H1 tag should have the word "Diesel Tuning" In your website title, you repeat tuning word 4 times... Repeating 4 times is not wise unles you site is huge already. You may add a link "dielsel tuner" in the footer note near the copyright.. It will tell that your site is aboput diesel tuning.
Your competitor might be doing a strong SEO. Google does not show all the back links may be they have more back links than you so you start continue your link building.
As already mentioned, H1 tags, Title Tags, external backlinks with anchor (decent, write some google articles and press releases!) - also, internal backlinks - add some articles to your site, or find ones you have already, and link the words diesel tuning to your homepage... Don't go too mad though! just add 3 to 7 links using that term MAX, internally linking back to your page (1 Max link per page)
Blogspotter - I have applied those changes, not sure how many times i should repeat the word tuning but i have reduced this to 2. I have also changed the H1 and H2 tags so they should be better now too. Also the footer thing. I have also added a blog, although not yet linked it into the main site as i haven't written any content for it yet. I will also now carry on doing the part i find the most difficult, link building! Thanks for your help
are you also deep linking straight at your "diesel tuning" page, not just the domain? make sure you do.
Do you have a Google webmaster account for this site? Start your Home Title with the keyword Diesel Tuning. Make some internal links with that anchor text too. Build a sitemap. And find some relevant blog/sites to leave/exchange links with some variations of that keyword.
