    Hi Guys

I have a news site, and Im trying to get to around 700K visits a month, however, I just can't seem to get to the first page for Google for the term "News". I know that if I get first page rankings that my traffic would increase exponentially. The site is riddled with a lot of issues, some of which are beyond my control as I have to go through a lot of red tape to get my changes implemented. Does anyone have SEO advice and tips specifically with optimising a news site???

You help will be greatly appreciated...

Please feel free to PM me.

    Thanks

    Sadie

Well, it's going to be a hugely generic answer, but it's virtually impossible to come up with an argued piece of advice without knowing what exactly you are talking about.

It seems like a highly competitive niche, so nothing easy can be expected. My best guess here is that frequent content updates are a big deal of what needs to be done by all means...

To get to the first page on Google for the phrase 'News' should be easy.
Providing you have a budget of approx $500,000 and a lot of time :)

Go for more realistic phrases to avoid dissapointment!

Single word serp placement is ridiculously hard. If you want more visitors may I suggest that you target some more realistic goals such as 3 - 5 word combinations?
