Hello, This is my first post on this site, hopefully I can obtain good advice from you guys. I am using a page generation tool to generate thousands of pages, in order to increase search engine presence. These pages are to act as "doorways" to other pages. For example: 1000 Page B1's act as doorways to page B. In order to prevent spam, each of these pages have unique urls, titles, descriptions, and keywords, but the content and function pages are basically all the same. Also the pages all have a 7 second redirect. Does anyone have any good advice they can give me in my exploit?
Err, my advice is to ditch this method - it's unethical and could seriously harm your rankings in the long run. If it's just creating pages based on keywords and the 'content' is search results (a la traffic equalizer) then it really doesn't work. Also, when people come to your site and see 'bad' content, they are likely to hit the back button within seconds before it forwards. Finally, if you suddenly jump to a new pag out of the blue, it doesn't give a good image for your site or company. Peter
Okay, I hear that alot. Also, I hear the contrary. Let me also make clear that the content is actually not actually search results, its somewhat informative, with often a daily updated rss feed. However, it is repeated over and over on different pages with different urls, meta, etc. Also thank you for your answer.
i agree with aceriker - this is terrible practice. first, if your 1000s of pages are targeting different keywords, then the page you're trying to apply the seo to is going to be indexed for all these keywords, if i understand correctly. you should focus one page on very few keywords/keyword phrases, and your backlinks should be from pages containing the same/similiar keywords. that probably sounds more clear in my mind than it does here... google penalizes heavily for duplicate content. google is pretty good at finding black-hatted sites.... read the webmaster guidelines, they clearly state that they will try to find sites that use backdoor techniques. ...but good luck with it
Also, let me add that these pages all are under the same domain. So they are not different domains pointing to a single domain. Though they have unique urls: ie: sample.com/sample1.html, sample.com/sample2.html, sample.com/sample3.html. Each page also contains similar keywords, though they are different, rearranged, etc.
if i were going to use this technique, i'd put the doorway urls on a different domain... and you really need to reconsider using duplicate content - you will be penalized for that. it's one of the simplest things for google to flag, and they will flag you for it, as they strictly recommend no dup content.
There is no duplicate content penalty. It's all a myth. What could happen is Google will not even bother to index any duplicate content. But, there's no google cop taking notes to drop your site in the rankings. At worst you just won't have most of your site indexed for having duplicate content. I could create a million pages of content all of it duplicate and the worst that would happen is most of it wouldn't be indexed. But no ones coming to arrest me, or penalyze me in anyway. However, you're kind of wandering into the blackhat area with doorway pages and redirects. And that can get you banned and removed from the google index. For help with how to do this right, you need to go places like syndk8.com. Of course if you asked a question like this on there, you'd get run out of the building...... so, continue at your own risk.
Quality guidelines - specific guidelines Avoid hidden text or hidden links. Don't use cloaking or sneaky redirects. Don't send automated queries to Google. Don't load pages with irrelevant keywords. Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content. From the mouth of Google
This actually sounds very much like something a seo company did a few years ago. Stay away from cloaking and redirects.
