Quality seems to be the real secret sauce. Quality original content, quality linking, and interesting material that attracts readers.
Experts are not idiots but when SEO expert meets idiots then there can be idiotic things happened. Now a days seo needs lots of things to change on website and need lots of content. When website owner can't fulfill the things then they blame on SEO only.
The majority of websites I sell the owners do the off page “SEO” and most all of them spend hours upon hours of wasted time and money that achieves nothing. Probably 70% of them ask no seo layout questions they just want “these” pages and “this” domain name. So standard my sites come layed for SEO but when there is no plain..? Its just random words in the wilderness of the internet. Almost always.. inexperienced people in SEO fumble around collect worthless links, get hustled into “ungraded” listings in worthless directories. In the end they spend countless hours and have a bunch of worthless nofollow links, facebook posts, yelp, etc that do absolutely nothing for them. For 1 hour of time $50-$75 they could by a basic SEO report that would have targeted keyword and competition levels which can be used to layout the site so it actually has a plain, a chance to get organic traffic. 1 hour of time after the site is built would buy a few assorted relevant dofollow links that would be worth more then all the nofollow directory links, 101 facebook posts, a 30 stupid pics on pintest that took them 150 hours of work. That is just 2 hours usually less then $150 that could make the difference between between actually getting organic traffic and getting nothing at all except wasted time and efforts. I don't really care I don't like SEO work that much, it's so much easier to just build sites and graphics, but it is sad to see wasted attempts at success. Many of my clients are small business owners that want to “do it yourself” where ever they think they can. It's the same with anything, You hire a professional and you get professional results. You hire someone from a spam email you get screwed.
You are absolutley right. If we want real results, we hire a professional. Instead of spending less money, don't spend at all or if you have time, spend a little of your time. Otherwise, pay more to get better and professional results.
The root problem is anyone can call themselves an "expert", just like the "expert" web developers that "design" a website by install wordpress and applying a purchased Themeforest theme. The real experts don't need to call themselves experts because their work will speak for itself. Note: there is nothing wrong with saving a client money and using a CMS solution, but don't pass it off as original and then get in over your head because now the client want's all kinds of customizations that you can't provide since you can't code. Same applies to SEO
You are making fun of yourself man..As mentioned above search on Google, you will see who is selling spam links, who are experts and who are selling cheap SEO packages..

You never know who the real seo expect is, and not trusting them is #1, and that is why you do not spend money on SEO because you got screwed a few times before....I was offered a free seo report on my site, of course it was horrible, freedy Kruder had a better hair day then my site.... then when I asked how much it would cost to optimize the site according to the report..... $300! Whaaat...catch22 - new site cant afford $300 to get seo optimized.......
