I don't know of anyone dumb enough to even consider making such a comparison. But I relish the thought of librals having to actually serve their country.

"But drill sergeant, just because he has a gun and bombs and grenades pointed at us, doesn't mean he wants to kill us. It may be a manifestation of much deeper social issues that are brought on by poverty and abuse by 'the man.' We should open a dialogue with the terrorist first, to better understand his side of the world story and why he wants to kill us. It may be that we deserve to die."

Perhaps what Charlie hasn't considered is, 70% of the military voted for Bush in the second term. In other words, liberals/democrats do not make up a significant portion of demographics that typically voluntarily serve their country. So in essence, "Charles in Charge" is going to force liberals/democrats to serve their country. I'm not against that ;)

The draft idea is not a "liberal" or a "democratic" idea. It is Charlie Rangel's idea. That is a fact. Describing it as anything but that is typical extremist bs that moves discussions about real issues into a never never land of polemics.

That is equivalent to saying that because Senator Chafee was against the war in Iraq all Republicans are chicken sh*t, terrorist appeasing, cut and runners.

    But then again--maybe they are!!!!:D

That is why such a comment is ludicrous!!!

I kind of relish the though of young republicans having to put their money where their mouth is and go fight in this war that is so great

Young republicans and the children of the people who voted to start the war should be the first draft picks.

They already are. It's not liberal democrats lining the recruiting stations to serve our country. Liberals stay behind and pretend to care about the soldiers by calling them dumb in kerry fashion, waiting to claim defeat on behalf of their country at a moment's notice.

    How old are you GTech?

I bet you wouldn't want to be drafted out to that hellhole to fight an unwinnable war mate, I sure as hell wouldn't. You would miss this P&R forum too much for a start. :p

There is nothing to "win" there, the invasion was based on a huge lie and Americans are dying there at an alarming rate. Probably best to get the troops out before any more are needlessly killed.

Old enough to be alarmed when online predators ask my age.

You forget there are *many* who wouldn't need to be drafted. Not everyone is like you.

Keep in mind that not everyone is willing to surrender as easy as you are. Not everyone is ready and willing to surrender their own country to the people you never have a bad word for. I would ask, again, about the "big lie," but you've proven time and again that when you post, it's not about integrity and facts do not matter. Iraqis are being killed in droves. Why you hate Iraqis is anyone's best guess, but it's apparent you want more Iraqis to be killed by having Coalition forces (which you apparently have no regard for anyway) withdraw, so terrorist forces can take over the country. I suppose this is your own special way of showing how much you care, in some twisted way.

Since men and women better than you will ever be, have fought for your freedoms there, and you don't have to worry about it, you feel nothing is worth fighting for. You have to remember, not everyone was given their freedom on a silver platter. Some had/have to fight for it.

Don't be alarmed GTech I'm no stalker. :)

Just wondering if you'll get caught up in the Iran debacle when it inevitably happens and they (the USA) need to bring the draft in because there are not enough troops to secure that oil pipeline corridor. :)

This bill has nothing to do with the military. Back when the war in Iraq started there were rumors being thrown around by liberals that Republicans were going to reinstate the draft. Turns out the only draft legislation going around was from democrats. Now they're at it again.

So what was the point then and now? That if you support the war but don't want to go fight yourself or send your own kid to fight that you're a hyprocrit.

That's all this is about. The monkey that's bringing this up again just wants to paint the administration as hyprocrits for only being so gung ho about Iraq because neither they nor their kids would be risking their lives.

First they want to scare us with a draft and pretend it's a Republican idea. Now they're fully owning it.

The bill was raised in the context that a draft would prevent wars like the war in Iraq from happening again. The author had no intention of building up the forces.

So really, this whole discussion has zero to do with the bill. It's just another stupid stunt from your friendly neighborhood Democrat.

A lot of people commenting are neither Republican or Democrat, both partys after all are 2 cheeks of the same arse.

I have no affiliation to any political party because most of them are lying scumbags, even worse than pikeys :)
