For some reason my account has private messages disabled and I'm not sure why. Is there anyone who can help regarding this urgent problem?

Isn't that what most spam is? People trying to buy/sell stuff to you?

It's temporary, it will reinstate automatically. Just be careful not to PM spam when it does.

On the same token, I find it annoying when people send me PMs that I never asked for.

The system is in place to protect us all.

    Thanks Brian

Maybe not but many users don't give a reference url when they contact people and if what they offer isn't a direct match with the request then the recipient often cries "spam". It really pays to be very clear in your communication with people.

Let's look at some statistics here at the time the system disabled your ability to send PMs...

    • You had very few posts.
    • You were sending hundreds of PMs.
    • The PMs you were sending were the same.

Generally speaking, a good rule of thumb is that if you can't bother to type a real PM, and are just copy/pasting the same message to people, then it's most likely spam.

;) I hope you know, Shawn can see your PM's, so there's no point trying to lie, if you are. If you aren't lying, Shawn would use his discretion and unsuspend the privileged.

To be honest, I don't like reading people's PMs even if they give me permission. In fact I go out of my way to NOT read them if at all possible, while still getting the data I need.

As an example, I can see the system currently shows 124 PMs you sent that were duplicates of another PM you sent, with one of them being sent 58 times (without reading your actual PM).

    mysql> SELECT COUNT(*) AS duplicates, MD5(message) AS hash FROM pmtext WHERE fromuserid = 255317 GROUP BY hash HAVING duplicates > 1 ORDER BY duplicates DESC;
    +------------+----------------------------------+
    | duplicates | hash |

That tells me you were sending a ton of PMs without referencing the sale thread or anything else unique about it since the PMs were identical. I'll lift the temporary ban early, but just be more careful in the future. If you are just sending copy/paste PMs, the receiver may get confused and not remember/know what sale thread you are even talking about and report it as spam.

I'm on the same program as diosagain...I'm just contacting sellers, not trying to sell anything. How long will it take to get my account back so I can respond to private messages?

Buying or selling has nothing to do with it.

I can not send PMs. It is not likely that my PM privileges are suspended. There must be some bug.

When I click on SUBMIT MESSAGE it redirects me to the Inbox page.
No Error Message, Nothing Appears added in Sent folder and Track Messages list.
Also despite opening and reading my recent PM several times it always remains appearing as unread and my notifications always showing 1 new PM.

    Update:
Strangely when I posted this thread reply, it is not reflected in the 'Suggestions & Feedback' forum page. Neither the related thread is bumped to the top, nor is the 'last post by' field is updated to my username. also not reflecting in the 'Find all posts' search via my profile
    I tried CTRL + F5 already.

    Update:
It did updated 15 minutes later (both PM status and thread update. I never saw any such delay ever before thats why I notified.

It varies... depends on how much someone was spamming.

As shawn already replied "PM suspensions are automatically lifted." so wait for that and take care of this next time.
