Sending Payments Through PayPal

    Hello guys,

I'm from India and I needed to send an urgent payment through Paypal but I find that I can't because even though my account is verified using my credit card, when I try to pay it gives me this 'this transaction cannot be processed' error.

Is it because it's in USD that I'm trying to make the payment in??

And if that's the case what alternative do I have to get the payment done? Create a virtual credit card etc???
    Anyone having any clues? :)

Are the details of your credit card acknowledged and verified by Paypal? I mean did they withdraw some amount from your credit card when you attached it?

    Hey parsibagan,

Yes I got my account verified after providing them with some code they sent to my credit card statement! :)

Then there should be no problems in sending money. By the way, are you sending the money to an Indian resident?

No I'm sending it to a US resident. However when I try to send it normally using my citibank credit card, it keeps showing me this ' this transaction could not be completed ' error... Can't seem to understand why - talked to PayPal etc also they say it should work fine,... Could it be a currency conversion or 3D secure problem?

Yes, it should work fine. Try talking to your bankers. Maybe they have added an additional layer of security for CC transactions. As far as I know, HDFC has added a new set of rules for purchasing online.

Yes I have a Citibank credit card and I guess they do have that additional IPIN thing they've set up which PayPal isn't able to process.... any way to sort this out??? :)

Your best option would be to get in touch with your bankers and explain the situation to them.

Okay I'll try and do that right away.

Meanwhile are you aware of some other methods also that I can get it done incase there's no other way around the IPIN thing?? Like I read somewhere I could get a virtual credit card which might sort out the problem - not completely sure if this might work or not though...

I never use a virtual credit card or would recommend you to use one. It might get your Paypal account banned.

Even if used as an additional funding source??

I thought only verifying using VCCs was dangerous :(

Paypal will see that as an additional CC :)

Strange to see that nobody else has answered in this thread

Give both paypal and your bank a call and see what the problem is.

@parsibagan : yes that's how it shows in my account right now!... hope it doesn't cause any trouble though :(

@BeeMWyou : I called up PayPal and they say there's no problem with my account whatsoever and things should run well.. and they told me the same thing when I called up my bank...
I think there are some RBI rules that aren't allowing me to process an Indian credit card in PayPal - there is some 3D secure password that is required normally when you transact here - but in PayPal it's just the CVV/CVC no. that's important... i guess that's one of the reasons why I'm unable to pay using my credit card...

But is there not any other way Indian users purchase stuff online using their PayPal accounts??

Nah, western union transfer is a service only for receiving money to India, no sending option.

Guys I got my problem sorted out automatically -- no idea why the problem occurred and why it got solved.

However, do let me know if you've a proper solution to not have this kind of situation happen again in the future :)
