Sending out 1000's of emails

    Hi

    Im sending out 1000's of emails to people to let them know their site has been added to my directories. They added the site and are aware that they may get an email back telling them this.

    How can I make more money from these emails going out. What products / links can I push on the emails?

    You can sell links in the "Link Sales" section and if you use OpenX you can monitor the click throughs etc to give stats to your buyers.

    You can sell banners - basically anyone who would be interested in your submitters... if your niche is automotive then you could sell banners to other automotive directories, to automotive drop shippers etc.

    You can put some affiliate link to it such as directory auto submitter tools link/ebook link etc.

    Not trying to poach your thread, but are you using a special program to send out those thousands of emails? How do you do this?

    They get sent on auto. When I accept a link to the directory or reject one they get an email. I can also set it up so that they get one when its submitted.

    The problem with affiliate links is I cant seem to get them to work so that they come through as a link. They come through as text which someone has to copy and paste into their browser. It looks cr@p when done like this. In a way I dont care if Im making money.

    Im using the free version of phpld.

    You'll need to send the email in html format instead of text--then you'll be able to create nice looking links. I've never changed this setting in phpld, but i found a post about doing it here.

    Thanks w0tan Just feel like kicking mself sometimes. Well actualy most of the time.

    I have found that the files are set up correctly to send html emails but not the email settings. Im such an idiot at times, any way I just need to work this out now. Im about to go out for the day but will try and work this out tonight.

    I dont suppose you know what settings I need to use do you?


    Email server (SMTP only):

    SMTP user (SMTP only):

    SMTP password (SMTP only):

    sendmail path (sendmail only):

    No Idea what to put in here. Going to test with the current settings and see what happens.

    If this works I must be able to make a lot more money .......

    Right it works with a text link and a pictures flashing type link. Well impressed.

    I was witting a new site yesterday on starting a web based business and mentioned how helpful forums like this are.

    The only problem with the email now is its all bunched up no paragraphs. I need to fix that and I'm all sorted. Will have to do this later though as I need to get ready to go out.

    Need to join a few directory affiliates now and see what I can earn.
