Hello, I own a website where recruiters agencies has jobs to offer. I saw on some websites like craiglist people who want jobs and their phone number appear in the web page. Can i contact them by sms directly ? What does the law tells about that ? When you post a job wanted ad in craiglist you have this text: it's ok to contact this poster if you are a potential employer or other principal Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job seeker. it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests What does it means exactly ? Regards Frank
The people you are referring to are looking for real jobs. If you are an employer offering a real part- / full-time job (not a work from home opportunity) you can contact them. If you are a hiring agency they don't want you to contact them. So, in your case you shouldn't contact them. Also, sms spam falls in the same category as email spam. Any unwanted message is / can be considered spam: http://www.fcc.gov/guides/spam-unwanted-text-messages-and-email The thing is mass emailing / smsing is not effective. Mass emailing was effective many moons ago, today even your subscribers can get pissed off if you email them one too many times. Ideally, any person / organization can sue another person for spamming. There are clear laws regarding spam. Just because it doesn't happen often doesn't mean the laws are not there.
