Semi related articles on site (Are they a good idea)

    Hi,

I have a domain selling site called: Namecake.com. I have domain related articles on there and will shortly be adding 20 more.
I was thinking about adding about 50 articles relating to Logos, Business, advertising and PR articles as well.
All of the topics have good search results but little competition within Google (a few hundred thousand pages listed.)
Is this a good idea - will the SE's just look at the keywords and the text and list it accordingly. Or will they look at the wider site and say, "this doesn't really fit in here." And chuck me at the back of the search results.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I think after the site gets indexed you will be fine on the content. Your linkbilding strategy will be more complex trying to rank high in Logos, Business, advertising and PR articles.

I believe search engines still focuses a lot on individual pages. Hence, it is ok for you to continue with your plan. However, bearing different themed articles in a site may affects the stickiness of your site and cause any inconsistent feel to your readers..

    Just my thoughts.. Good luck!

This can be done, but must be done properly. You'll need to structure the content and URL structure properly. I would suggest doing atleast 5 articles for each subject\theme. Then, they should have their own so called "landing page" themed around the articles. Using proper URL structure is critical. Below is an example.

5 Articles Based on "California Surfing"

Web Page 1 - Landing Page for Surfing... to inter-link all 5 articles
    Web Page 2 - Article 1
    Web Page 3 - Article 2
    Web Page 4 - Article 3
    Web Page 5 - Article 4
    Web Page 6 - Article 5

All web pages above should inter-link to each other, the only web page inter-linked outside of this theme is the landing page. Also using proper URL structure is critical!

    Web Page 1 - Landing Page http://www.site.com/california-surfing/
    Web Page 2 - Article 1 http://www.site.com/california-surfing/article-name-1
    Web Page 3 - Article 2 http://www.site.com/california-surfing/article-name-2
    Web Page 4 - Article 3 http://www.site.com/california-surfing/article-name-3
    Web Page 5 - Article 4 http://www.site.com/california-surfing/article-name-4
    Web Page 6 - Article 5 http://www.site.com/california-surfing/article-name-5

All backlinks related to this articles would be pointed to http://www.site.com/california-surfing/ and deeper.
