I'm just wondering if anyone else is aware of any search engines offering semantic search? and of what sort of technology they use? the only product I have found is powerset which works pretty well but is only available on wikipedia documents. Is anyone aware of any other products like this that actually work? I've come across quite a few that don't!
Hakia is supposed to be a semantic search engine that takes a completely different approach to search from google. They even show you a comparison of result with Google so you can make your own mind up.
Most interesting Semantic search company to me is PureDiscovery. They, with LexisNexis, have apparently converted the entire US patent index into a machine learning layer. Heard about them from a friend that consults with Lexis. He is very impressed. Just Google PureDiscovery and LexisNexis and you'll find a lot of docs. I like that they actually show the user the machine learning. I have never been a fan of the black box semantic search engines. The transparency is refreshing.
