selling websites

If you sell a website, get the money, but the new owner does nothing to transfer the domain name to his account. What can I do?

The domain is still registered under my name, I am still paying the hosting, I have the money from the sale, but the new owner fails to reply to my emails and PMs requesting the information on where he wants the domain name transfered to.

What should my next step be? Should I send him his money back and resell the site, or cancel the domain name?

If it happened to me I'd try to find out what happened to the guy. Maybe a phone call or something.

I'm sure there are phones even in the UK. When I don't know someone's phone number I use this http://people.yahoo.com/

Who was it that bought the site and when? If it's only yesterday then I wouldn't get hot under the collar. If it were a week or more I might be concerned.

it has been 2 weeks since I sold the site, I am still paying for it to be hosted, and I can exactly afford a call to the usa because someone isnt replying to my email

I should never have asked. I want to know where I stand at getting this off my account, not becoming a webhost.

Ok, why don't you tell us the exact answer you want, and then Peter and I will type it, ok? Will that make you happy?

    stop being stupid.

I want the domain name out of my account. It has been sold nearly 2 weeks ago, and I am still hosting it.

I want to know legally where I stand in having this either re sold, or deleted. I do not want to host it forever, or I wouldnt have sold it in the first place.

I need to cancell the account it is on soon, before I am tied into another 3 month contract with the company.

If I understand all of this right.

You sold the guy a website 2 weeks ago, and you collected the money.

Since the sale, you have not had any contact with him, and he doesnt answer emails.

The domain is in your name, and the site is still being hosted in your name.

UHM, How about, you cancel the hosting. Then, you are not out any more money for hosting, while you wait for him to contact you.

Just remember to back up everything, so that you can send him the site, and any databases when he finally gets around to contacting you.

Yeah, I would suggest just cancel the hosting. If he already paid you, you don't need the site anymore so just cut off the hosting and wait for the domain to be transfered. If he doesn't transfer it, just let it expire or sell it again :p
