    Hello,

I am selling a website I have for several thousand dollars, ($5k). I would like to know what methods you guys would recommend I use.

The guy selling to lives in US across the country. He wants to use paypal so he can use a credit card but I do not feel safe with paypal on a large transaction. Was wondering what other options there are so the guy can use a credit card but that will be safe for me. So once i get the funds I know they are good and not have to worry about it being stolen information or something like that.

If I need to provide more details of the transaction for the best answer please let me know and I will do so.

Wonder if they can use western union and credit card to fund it. I would preffer a certified check if it was me.

Use escrow or bank wire for this huge transaction IMO for your own safety.

Yep, do escrow service and if they don't like it then I wouldn't sell them the website. The other services you can still get a charge back from the credit card company. Look at sites that will provide protection against chargebacks. Also, look for protection against disputes. Get a contract made up and get it signed with a photo id of the person and have them get it noterized. Get as much information as you can about them. If you want to make double sure the address is the real address. Send them something in the mail as in a mail captcha and send it with signer tracking.

This way if something does fall through, you have a contract, you have the address, you have the phone number, you know whom they are, and you know who to take to court. US to US transactions are the best, because at least your sort of protected by US laws.

As already known, Paypal funds can be charged back which is the biggest fear of loosing ever thing. So as of this reason i'll suggest you to go with Western Union or any other such service provider. it is the best and the most safest way to get the deal done in the right way.

I would highly advise against using PayPal, or any e-currency, even Moneybookers. Use Western Union (instant payment, cannot be reversed) or Bank Wire transfer.

oh yes wire transfer is another best way to sell your website since the buyer cannot take the money back from you nor the buyer can scam you.... but if you want to use online service, then go for egold or moneybookers which do not allow chargeback and reversal.... just stay away from PayPal... because when you will receive a big amount then paypal will freeze the payment and limit your account.... and worse the buyer can reverse the payment by making a fake claim of unauthorized payment....

and dont trust those dirty echecks... because they dont get cleared most of the time....

I called moneybookers and egold, egold is worthelss for this kind of transaction and moneybookers is not ideal either.

I was going to use western union after a lot of promising to the buyer of my legitimacy, but when using a credit card they treat it as a cash advance and he did not want to do that.

So we ended up using escrow.com, who has great customer service even though u have to wait for 15 mins on hold to get thru. Now I am just waiting for them to clear the payment and we are good to go. Though if using a credit card $5k is the max that can be sent at one time. So larger transaction must be split up.

Thanks for the advice and help
