    Does anyone know any good companies that purchase user information?

    Such as: name, email address, physical address, etc?

    I'm talking about opt-in list information.

    I do hope im not on that list.

    Most optin list holders put a disclaimer
    on there sites that state something like:

    You email address will never be rented,
    sold or disclosed to anyone.

    I take it yours hasnt?

    Greetings Whiteshark;

    Aren't "opt-in" data by definition not something that is to be sold?? (If genuine?) By that I mean--aren't people expecting their info not to be sold?

    BTW-i'd visit the sites that sell the data. I am sure that they'd be willing to broker something...as well, what about selling to people in a complimentary industry direct. Going that way would seem to give you the ability to get the most $$$.

    Best;

    Eric

    Well, I thought when you check the box to "opt in", that means that the user is perfectly fine with receiving emails.

    This recently happened to me when I received a lot of junk mail via snail mail. Thankfully, it was "useful" junk mail because someone had apparently sold my information to RELEVANT marketers.

    I'm not talking about doing anything unethical, I was just wondering which ethical companies purchase list information for marketing purposes.

    I may try starting a Joint Venture with someone who has a list.

    What's your niche like?

    Yeah vladimir's right; don't sell your
    users information they definitley won't appreciate them, and
    will never buy anything off you ever again. And isn't that the point of opt in?

    Do joint Ventures! You Make 50%+ on all your sales and you'll be able to market the same people hundreds of times. In the long run you'll make heaps more then you would simply selling your list.

    Just remember don't treat your optins like gabbage. Keep giving them quality content and build trust and they'll jump all over you!

    I think it's pretty shitty to sell user information for a quick buck, even if it's not against your ToS or whatever.

    We can look at it two ways.

    See, I bought a home a while back, and suddenly I was receiving all these coupons in the mail for lighting companies, furniture stores, and locksmiths.

    Either the mortgage or escrow company must have sold my information to a third party, who is affiliated with all these local home-store companies in my area.

    It didn't bother me because I actually ended up using some of the coupons, like Home Depot's "20% off" card, for example.

    Marketing can be a helpful thing to all parties, if done properly.
