    This is an idea that I came up and you might want to run with it. There is definitely viral potential in the hands of the right person, or maybe you just want to own it because it's a kick ass website with a fun concept. Either way here are all the details but you should fully explore the site to see for yourself.​

    The Overview:

    The Idea.

    An "unofficial YouTube" website. Sort of a fun bootleg-like concept because people cannot actually upload their own videos. They can only submit videos that are already on YouTube. User's can rate the videos they like and don't like but the possibilities for additions from other ideas are endless. This thing has viral written all over.

    The Technicals

    Site has an admin area where you can create new categories, approve new videos and feature videos. It's straight forward and simple. Everything is powered by PHP and MySQL 5 thus the ability to add anything you want to add to it. Comments, RSS parsing, social network integration, etc... The point is that any competent programmer can add whatever your crazy imagination can come up with.

    The front end of the website is also very simple and straight forward, each video post allows the users to watch the video in a new page or an Ajax popup. Both areas allow you to rate the video and draw the video description from YouTube. The home page allows you to sort by ratings, name, views and date. The navigation includes a featured videos section, all videos, video categories, images of all the videos that have been added, a random section and the ability to submit your own videos.

    The Point

    I'm selling this to anyone who wants it. You might want to take some of my ideas and run with them or maybe you just want it because it's a fun site. I'll always have a thing for this type of weird thinking but right now time is my enemy and gas prices are getting higher and higher.

    Very nice work... I like it. I am concerned with bandwidth though... if the new owner gets even just 1000 people to the site per day, the site will fail unless the new owner has invested into mega bux on a really good server.

    I don't think the YouTube videos would affect bandwidth much, I mean correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the bandwidth usage for the video come straight from YouTube's servers?

    The images on the other hand would use a little bandwidth but since when is bandwidth such a big issue? It's getting cheaper and cheaper. Look the plans HostGator has. Either way I don't think bandwidth is something to be that concerned about proxies, image hosts and a mess of other sites use way more bandwidth.

    Gotcha... so you do pull from YouTUbe source and the videos aren't actually uploaded to your own server? If so, then yes... that makes a HUGE difference. Thanks for clarifying. ;)

    I did think about that but I've seen plenty of domains that have "YouTube" in them and are still up and running. Plus the added fact that's it's called unofficial definitely won't hurt.
