Selling to both UK and US visitors

Hey guys, i'm very new to this, infact i'm still at the stage of planning my website (figured it was probably best to gather information and plan before diving in only to find out that i've gone wrong).

So far the plan is to make a niche content website, get traffic from search engines (seo, backlinks etc) then start to monetize. Google ad's were the initial plan but unfortunately google doesnt seem to have many ads related to my niches keywords so i've decided that i'll lean more towards affiliate programs.

The niche is music related so i thought i could put a 'shop' section onto the website where i'd link to amazon to sell albums and fan merchedise. My question is with this amazon section would i be able to link to both US and UK versions of amazon and gain revenue? Any explaination into how this works would be useful.

I'm living in the UK too btw, so would i be a part of the UK affiliate program only or is it one big program?

Basically i'm a bit confused about how the fact that i'm in the UK but would probably be mostly selling to US affects me

UK and US are different program and you need to join them separately.

Yup different id's and it would be different ads about the same item. You ll need a geo location script to see visitors country and show the right item.

So what way does it work if you sent someone to amazon.com using your amazon.co.uk associate ID?

    - would it not give any credit?

With amazon.com, it looks as if electronic payments are only available to US residents (with non-us people requiring check payments)

What way do people from the UK operate with Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk sites?
    - do they receive direct payments for the .co.uk and check payments from the .com associate accounts?

You will not earn a single penny if you send users to amazon.com if your associate id is amazon.co.uk id. The best thing to do is register on both sites and hope that your visitors click on the right associate link to Amazon.

Here's what I do, I have several sites and each is targeted to a different Amazon site, that way I know that promoting my product is focused on site and not both at the same time.

    Good luck

Bloody h.ll. Unless you've got lots of traffic, it's simply not worth the effort.

You might want to target your associate products on one particular country that the majority of your traffic come from. I don't know about you, but it works for me.
