Selling The VirtualBrowser

Well.. I don't really want to sell this, but I need a laptop for the coming school year. I've been saving.. but its taking to long ;) So.. the money I earn from the sale will be added to some I've already saved, and I'm going to buy a nice new laptop :p (If I can sell it ;) ). Probably a dell or toshiba in case you're wondering....

I don't have exact stats as the host its hosted on isn't very good and doesn't have any stat program. I do know that I'm getting on average 6,000 pageviews per day, and I'm asuming around 2,500 unique visitors per day. I would get more, but host is down a lot.. so part of the day its not accessable.

Montly regular income (from Adsense, and $0.80 CPM Popunders) is about $120 a month, so the standard selling price = 1 years income would be $1,440. In ADDITION to that, I've earned $50 one month with CPM and PPC graphic banners, and $70 another month, and $90 another month with various affilliate programs. So the revenu oppertunity is there, you just have to find a program that does well with the site. If I did one of the above every month, on average that would be another $70 a month. So $2,280/year.

I also had $15 in donations when I had a donate button up for a little bit.

URL is thevirtualbrowser.com, if there is a lot of traffic when you try to access it, it may take a while to load.. so just be patient. You get everything, the domain, site, everything.

I had the idea of an ad-free browsing option, where users would pay a subscription fee and be adless. I never got around to doing that though, but if you want to.. that could be another source of income.

Payment would be via either Paypal or Personal Check through Escrow.

Let start at $500. (I really don't want to sell it that low though :p )

Right now I'm not paying for the hosting, its sort of a barter arangement.

Like I said, I don't have any stats program right now, but last time I did.. it was using about 40-60GB/month. Traffic hasn't changed too much since then, so its probably still around there.

    Replied to PMs.

Edit: OOps.. missed a post. Yes I built the site, has been online since Dec 2004. (Domain was registered on Jan 2005, before was just a subdomain)

I was wondering about that. I was interested back then, but Josh dropped off the face of the earth after we PM'd a few times. What ever happened?

He moved house - at his age he didn't really get a say in the matter :)
From what I remember, there was some problem with the line into the new house and he couldn't get on line.
I don't know whether the site sale actually went through - I'd guess not.

Yes, thats what happened. I wasn't really expecting to lose my internet for a month... buy my dad had the brilliant idea of only using cell phones. So I couldn't get online at home.. it was just a mess. (Then he got the bill, my mom went over the minutes like threefold.. changed his mine real quick :D )

I'm not moving this time ;)

Theseoguide, I'm working on getting screenshots of all the income from the various ad programs. I'll PM you once I get them all together. It looks like the CPM banner company resets their stats after they mail the payment, so I might not be able to get that.

schlottke, sure.. can I get a URL?

I have no idea. I was wondering that myself.. it was PR5 a few weeks ago.

I've been linked to by BBSpot as the link of the day, and by USAtoday.com... and a few other large sites. So it has certainly made a presence on the web :)

interesting site... i like the idea but have a few questions. I've seen many proxy sites go down, so am wondering about this.

Does anyone know the legal implications of running one of these? IE if someone does something shady with a stolen credit card or something like that.

All bandwidth of the viewed goes through this site right? So it would seem a high traffic proxy site would need a boat load of cheap bandwidth to make this work.

    1. I've never had any legal problems.. you may want to place a disclaimer on the site saying that this site will not be hold responsible for the actions of its users, and by using this site you hereby agree not to use this site in any manner that is illegal or unethical.

    2. Yes.. this is the case. You can get bandwidth pretty cheap, get a VPN or some other semi-dedicated server.. and you'll get plenty of bandwidth.

King_Richard, once I get 12 months revenu as the bid, or when I feel that there are probably not going to be any more offers.
