I was thinking of maybe selling templates as a way of earning money on line
    What do you guys think
Is it worth while getting into
I am a designer who works primarily in (x/d)HTML and CSS also use JS
How much would I get for them
Ideally I would like to sell each for 50€ is this feasible
Am I better selling each to only one or two customers at a high price or to one all at a lower price

Also other than here were else can I sell them

    Thanks

Selling templates is a good idea but they need to be quality.

I would sell each to one person only so as they remain unique to any one website.

as well as selling them here you could aslo sell them on sitepoint

Selling templates can work if the designs are good.

Have a look through the sales forum on this site. One of the other things you can do is sell links in the footer, keep a link to your own website and distribute the template for free and you will get a load of links pointing back to your site.

I have done that with some Wordpress designs and ended up with 1000s of links from sites linking back to mine.

By the sounds of it i think you are wanting to sell pre-made templates. In one way that can be good but you would have to have something unique about them as there are so many people doing the same thing.

A much better option is to offer your services in the design section of the forums as this way you can utilize your skills to the best of your ability to the requirements of your client, so you aren't going to be losing out on work time.

But as mentioned above if you are selling your own templates then i would always put a link in the footer back to your site, and maybe encode it so it cant be edited out easily. And then you could offer the template for a little extra to take the link out.

    Just my thoughts.

    thanks guys
I have looked at site point but they seem to charge you 19$ to place an ad
What code to you use to stop people editing out your link

I am working on a couple of real sites for people this week but may try to design a couple of templates and see how it goes
Have checked out this site and other template sites and reckon I can do it

You can make money selling templates but they must be good, and you need to recognize there is already a lot of competition in that niche.
