I have been working in a freelance relationship with a very small European software company for several years converting their documentation to English. They are now ready to begin offering the software for sale in the US and want to sell via Amazon. They have asked me to assist them in setting this up, and I had originally thought I would just be able to set myself up as a seller and act as a 3rd party reseller of their software. That option seems to have some drawbacks as Amazon requires 3rd party sellers to ship physical product (no digital downloads which is how my friends have traditionally done business). Having them register to sell as themselves in the US is also difficult as they have no US bank accounts and neither of us knows how to go about doing that for a company that resides outside the US. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to help this company get started selling their program on Amazon in the US legally and without putting myself in any danger of liability?
if you offer digital goods use 1) paypal 2) 2checkout 3) regnow 4) avangate 5) moneybookers 6) plimus you dont have to signup on amazon, use robust payment gateway which provides instant downloads after payment.
The developer already sells via RegNow but wants to sell on Amazon as well. Anyone have any personal experiences or advice to share on going that route? -MaestroC
international users are still able to register on amazon to sell. They just have to submit some forms to amazon for tax purposes. Amazon provides those forms during the registration.
Any idea where to find that information? When I Googled for it I found this incredibly (not) helpful page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200168970
